making beats has became something more akin to an alienating job at a assembly line rather than a real exercise of creativity and ingenuity

    exactly

  • Dec 16, 2024

I just wish more producers would take inspo from more obscure places or at least try and spice their beats up with something a little more unique. Thats it. I don’t think every producer needs to be doing jpegmafia s*** lmao

“Hey I like the way the melody sounds on this beat and I like the rhythm of the drums on this other one, What if I try and mix them together”

Decent money but someone like T Minus woulda got 100k a beat or close to it if his 2010’s run happened a decade prior lol

Part of that because of CDs tho. Someone who it really hurt is someone like Pierre who came up with an original hit making sound but it was easily replicable so his value got cut. Same thing happened to lets say F1lthy or the yeat producers before you could really individually identify them. Not even about old head vs young head just oversaturation and lack of originality being accepted

Seems like the natural way things work. Supply and demand. Before, a beat from a great producer was hard to make. Now everybody and their momma can open FL and Learn how to make good beats.

Before you could only name a few good producers. Now even between your friends you can find some amazing producer. Ofc, as it's natural too, there is gonna be a lot of stuff with low quality or generic because is the result of new producers with access to the tools and info, learning how this works.

Nigga i’ve watched this happen lmao

Its like the french montana tyga effect but for producers

    Bro chose two terrible examples
Both tyga and french had a legit come-up with years of an underground wave before becoming who they were. Especially French.

Not gonna pretend to have listened to a lot of their albums past 2015 but for the most part the music that they made once they became industry staples and feeds their families isnt well done (tape) or mac and cheese lol

They’re mostly still around because they’re friends with Wayne (although props to Tyga for reinventing himself like 3 times), Puff, Ross, Kanye (french) etc and make club records that cool for their lane but we aren’t really anticipating new tyga or french and havent for a while bc of the type of artists they became

I mean yeah and things were at an even balance somewhat in the early 2010’s before what this thread is complaining about happened

Another Prime example i just thought of is mexiko dro. Because carti was the first big artist who got on his sound the game w****d it out and called it “plugg” before he could get records with say Gucci or Migos lol

Matter fact bc of carti that also kinda happened to Pierre and maybe even jetsonmade in theory/aesthetic with @ meh. Where organically niggas coulda kinda gone on a run before the mid 2010’s revamp of type beat tutorials, nowadays your style is a whole subgenre before you can get enough placements to stamp it as your style lol

  • Dec 16, 2024

Anyone with music history know “type beats” is a cancer.

Imagine Kurt Cobain going “Oh this generic Nirvana type beat that I found on this tape will be our next song”

    Ah i see
    True
But i think producers like internet money never had that initial period of seld made greatness and just struck out with like a lil pump record and built an empire

  • Dec 16, 2024

Type beats as we know them predate internet money since the atleast the mid 2000s. Type beats started as a gimmick on soundclick (pre-beatstars) and other sites like it to market beats and to further drive traffic to soundcloud for sales, people made youtube videos to generate traffic.

Ya’ll were never bout that DIY artist life if this how you viewing it content creation is just the new medium to either catch up or fall behind remaining stuck in your ways

Content creation is a double edged sword that is tied to monetizing every hobby under the sun. Majority of content creation is to garner attention for money or influence to lead to more money.

Nobody wants to content create for the love of the game if they aren't making money

    Tooooooooooot

Always considered using Splice to be a crime

I wanna agree with this but I’ve also found some beautiful samples on splice and a few beats I’ve used them on have done better numbers so I feel like I can’t lol

I think it’s fine as long as that’s not your only means of producing , It does feel cheap sometimes too though

Did darklex actually posted any beats or songs he created yet?

  • Dec 16, 2024

I agree mostly op, I think there’s a place for type beats and loops, but it’s become disgustingly over saturated since 2018

  • Dec 16, 2024

Thread reminded me of how much of a loser Taz Taylor was in the KTT1 producer thread

Whether I make money off this passion or not, I’m not stopping. I’m addicted to creating haha, a dollar don’t change that, but would make s*** more comfortable

They were never really about it

    Nah because

    1. He’s lying

    Or

    2. He’s exactly what’s being called out itt and doesn’t want to post his channel of Carti type beats

This thread took a nice turn

The days when I'm super duper mega happy I can pee out a strong demo in like 30 minutes

Other days I'm like... close ableton, exit without saving

saw it mentioned that Taz had an account on ktt1 so i went digging for a few mins out of curiosity

i imagine if he saw this thread, he’d post something like this again:

“people in here talking about "make your own beats, yall aren't original"

but yalls beats sound like s***.

    yall need some loops.”
