I majored in Jazz Performance in college I don't want to see any more music theory s*** lmao

Yo I've been trying to improve my audiation skills for a while. I've gotten the minor pentatonic, major pentatonic and major scale down but I still find myself having to depend on the piano to play what I'm thinking in my head. I know doing solfege and singing as you solo helps but I find that this has been a slow process. Any tips?

Solfege is definitely the right idea, I'm not a master at playing everything I hear but I'm sure if you really drill that, sight singing, and transposing you'll definitely be on the right path.

My Jazz Trumpet professor was REALLY big on sight singing, we used to do it more than we actually played the instrument most days. He'd pull up like an etude book or a solo I transcribed and get me to sing the notes as it's written and help out on the piano if I can't get it. It definitely helped a lot.

    Ooo

    Damn what happened?

Just realized that looking at partitions all the time wasnt for me at all tbh since Im more interested with production and sound engineering and I didnt feel confortable at all with the people there so I dipped out as quick as I could lol

Kanye could barely even do drums and doesn’t like reading books.

All the musical features on his beats was played by others like Jon Brion and Mike Dean

What Kanye is good at is having an ear for what sounds good and assembling s*** but he don’t know actual music theory. Kanye can’t play no chords

Kanye knows how to program drums and samples and play simple things man dont discredit him

Yeah I produce as well for fun. But career wise I’m focused on the science of sound design through sampling and a***og modulation
