What’s your degree gonna be in family? Copped my Bachelor’s in Computer Systems Engineering and planning to go back for my Master’s next fall but my employer will pay for that

Accounting. A CPA certification gets you further than a Master's so I'm considering getting that before going to get a Master's at the moment.

No credit card debt, no car payments, etc. I've been working since high school nonstop, and always saved my paychecks overwhelmingly. Hell I could pay off all my debt now, but I'd rather have a lot saved at any time just because life is unpredictable.

Cyber security or anything tech based considering if we happen to reach the aftermath of this napalm s***storm of a pandemic, more people will look to push automation further into fruition without having to be in the involvement of anything hands on it's your best bet to me in my opinion but do what's best for you bro.

How hard is it to get into cyber security and how hard will it be to get a job in that field in let's say 5 years?

Will i have to be in school for 4+ years before I can get any kind of job?

I’m graduating with a BA Information Systems degree in the winter, in terms of automation you think I should be learning programming?

ye industry standard is python. information systems aint the worst place to start in .. if ur interested in machine learning ur gonna have to pick up some linear algebra/multivar calculus to start with.

from there ... dont usually f*** w reddit but /r/learnmachinelearning has some good s*** in their wiki. guide for engineers would prob be helpful for u.

ofc u can look into other areas of CS. but as far as i can tell plenty of data science/ML job opportunities popping up .. keep in mind MOST of this s*** is in the bay area. pay is good but rent goes crazy

not difficult at all man there's numerous courses you can take online via coursera or other sites of that nature to become certified for particular tiers of your choosing.

you can completely dodge college for that field and in turn just take an online course to obtain the cert for a good price (for me it was 50 dollars).

5 years time who knows what domineering field might rival tech can't predict for sure due to evershifting factors from our wild choices, but it should be easy for you to become acclimated w/ whichever field of your choosing within the industry.

way i built up my GitHub was finessing some internships and getting s*** done with them. but that was when i was still in college.

from what i know theres some machine learning bootcamps that will help u build some projects to stick in GH, help u with the job search etc.

u gotta be ready to shell out around a couple racks though. off the top of my head one camp ik of costs abt $8,000.

also want to add. coding competitions, some open source projects that ppl out there are working on ETC are all ways of building ur portfolio without shelling out a dime

but cold truth is that w/o a direct degree in some field of tech its gonna take some serious grinding.

check ur job prospects and see what options are out there

    like $80,000 lmao

I have more than that in student loans

I'm not tripping though, s*** gets cut down quickly if you work in education like I do. California pays a lot of it over time and having a masters ups your LAUSD paycheck by 20k a year, so it evens out.
