blessings brudda 🙏🏾
I went to a career fair a few months ago and an employer told me to build up my github portfolio, any tips or knowledge on that?
last thing imma say real quick is that machine learning is prob the toughest field to break into. s*** like web dev is easier. if u do some more research u can look into other fields as well
Not bad dude.
What does it consist of?
Student loan.
I think it was around 14k before but I’ve been paying by a little over the years. I have the money to pay off in full right now, however the federal student loan payments are suspended till September and I rather have the money on me as emergency because who knows wtf is going to happen with the economy in following months.
Also, Democrat’s have proposed a bill to forgive everyone student loans by 30k. So I’m kind of waiting to see the verdict on that, but the most likely scenario is that it’s not going to go through.
none my dad got a big pay out from his company 2 years ago now as he got redundant which paid of the house loan off, however the overall income has been severally reduced since my mum is the only one working now and i lost my part time job couple months ago
next year i will be when i go to uni i will be in debt but under the HECS repayment (way better then Americas system)
also fun fact if you're up to neck s*** in debt if you've got no alternate options and can live without returning to the states just leave the country after you finished your education and live scrape free.
The last teacher I worked with was pulling in 90-95k a year at a high school.
My boy from the gym is phys ed teacher in elementary school and he’s making 75k. He started a year or 2 ago and doesn’t work during the summer. Mf won

That's great without summer
I'm still trying to get in with the district, but my day will come. I'm interviewing for eligibility and a future referral on the 14th.
Most people substitute teach or get a gig with a charter school while they wait for a call. Substitute teaching is $200 for a 6 hour work day in Los Angeles.

Is web dev worth getting into ?

You will definitely get in, just be persistent and be on top of your game. You trying to teach HS or elementary?
A lot.
But that's because we bought a house in August and I got a new car Jan 2019.
CC debt is low af though, only at 3k.
Credit Score 788.

Thanks. I'm credentialed for English grades 6-12. It's a major area of need here because a lot of kids don't even speak English at home.

Wait...your dad paid off your house loan?
Or he paid off his house loan? You trying to claim your dad's debt boy

Oh that’s mad nice. I wouldn’t want to teach in HS though, it’s very tough. That s*** will leave you with ptsd lol.
wow that’s crazy, but not surprising. I know a lot of kids in nyc are the same, they speak native language at home and English outside.

When I was student teaching in February, I taught a few seniors who were in their 20s and were in danger of being kicked out of school because they had flunked so many times. I liked teaching seniors because I could talk to them like adults, but the pressure of graduation is really heavy and a lot of the students barely give a s*** anymore.

Well in this case, it’s not so bad because they know they need to take this serious and they not there to play around. But teaching in public HS with kids that don’t care about anything is stressful af. Teachers deserve to be paid good.

There is a limit to how much teachers can make, it’s tough to get extremely rich in that industry. Definitely some perks though!

A good friend of mine had a middle school he taught at, a charter. This place was a s***hole. They didn't even have a curriculum! Like they got s*** off the internet to teach in class. The kids were little s***s and the dean never did anything to discipline them.
Turns out the man behind the school got indicted for fraud.

My friend quit.
It gets better. A week before I even got my credential, this school calls me up, didn't say who they were, and asked if I could give a demo class, not mentioning that I would be replacing my friend at this s*** job. Looked them up, found out what it was and turned them down on the spot.
They paid 50k a year.
not difficult at all man there's numerous courses you can take online via coursera or other sites of that nature to become certified for particular tiers of your choosing.
you can completely dodge college for that field and in turn just take an online course to obtain the cert for a good price (for me it was 50 dollars).
5 years time who knows what domineering field might rival tech can't predict for sure due to evershifting factors from our wild choices, but it should be easy for you to become acclimated w/ whichever field of your choosing within the industry.
So I could legit get into cyber security by just getting some certifications from Coursera??
Google says cyber security salary is around 90k. And you're saying I can obtain that from some online degree?

Damn man, gotta suck with everything going on during final year of HS.
Feel hella bad for all the people who don't even get a graduation, prom, all that jazz.
Good for you though. Welcome to adult life, you've hit life's peak
