The other month I made a thread calling Jack out for coming from a wealthy stable upbringing cause I felt like he didn't deserve his success. The thread blew up and hella people here dragged me for it.
I listened to some more of his music and I gotta admit he has talent.
I'm still uneasy about how hard he's getting pushed, which definitely has to do with White privilege and his upper middle class background, which obviously appeals way more to Middle America than a rapper from the hood.
At the same time, I see he's put his 10,000 hours in and I respect that. I was feeling some type of way because most of my social circle growing up came from broken homes, and I always saw Hip-Hop as a culture for people with struggle trying to make something better out of their lives.
But I understand that most people want something to vibe to, and not everything has to be about pain. Even if Jack had way more help than kids who came from pain, he still put his 10,000 hours in. I want other kids who came from struggle to get the same push.
Not looking to be in the industry or jealous of his spot, by the way. I just don't f*** with unequal opportunities.
Jack Harlow worked hard af to reach this spot + his personality is dope af I don't see any reason to hate on him
Jack would be working at mcdonalds if the mods didn’t blackball Cordova
I changed my mind on the Ravens drafting an offensive linemen with their first pick in the draft
It's always white ppl that get the "he's a good guy, has a nice personality" treatment lol
Everybody has their advantages. Whether you're rich or have connections, whatever. The biggest thing to remember is that it's all about not being ugly. Ugly niggas have to work harder than anybody. Even Jack with all his advantages and talent and work didn't get on until he learned how to not be ugly.
if you don't f*** with unequal opportunities, wait til I tell you about society from the beginning of time
in what world exactly would everyone have equal opportunities? you sound like an idiot
some people have parents who did music. some people have parens who went to college. hell, you might have totally different opportunities even within the same family bc maybe the version of your parents an older sibling got is different than the version of parents a younger sibling got
what are you talking about?
this also ignores the fact that artists like Wayne and Jay Z have pushed the hell out of acts (Gudda Gudda, Mack Maine, Lil Twist, Memphis Bleek, etc.) who just never caught on. if it's as easy as having parents who own a sign company in a city that doesn't even have a football or basketball team, then everyone would have Harlow's success
I am genuinely wondering how you function in society @op like are you dumb
"I mean you have to understand. Jack Harlow was destined to be a multi platinum selling rap artist. His parents own a sign company in Louisville"
A&R's scouring the country for children of parents who own sign companies in towns of under a million people because that is apparently the most important ingredient for creating the next rap star
"his parents own a sign company in Louisville. He basically had his rap career HANDED to him"
Jack would be working at mcdonalds if the mods didn’t blackball Cordova
He would be working at lids you mean
"his parents own a sign company in Louisville. He basically had his rap career HANDED to him"
Oh it’s the guy from that thread
