You would have to be delusional to think that. Kanye's record just did massive numbers. Who's making it so massive? The 30% of the country that is Republican? The 14.2% that is black? Most people who aren't on twitter don't treat entertainment like politics

His biggest fanbase is young men from like 15-27.

“White pop head libs” are listening to s*** like Taylor Swift and Olivia rodrigo. All you need to do is look at Twitter for 5 minutes to see that’s no really his scene/demographic

    "look at twitter"

64% of twitter is male, and we know that Kanye's fanbase has a large share of female listenership

    Some interesting points here but

    • Why was Donda more well-received than JIK when they're both 'gospel' albums? Donda arguably more raw in some parts
    • Wasn't Kanye wilding out during JIK era too?

The reception to Donda in the media just proves my point. Look at how it was absolutely slandered and derided in the media for s*** that had nothing to with the music

Google any random review of it and you’ll see what I mean

the album was a pretty bold step for him but i think 20 years from now when they examine his discography this one will stick out like a sore thumb

it’s just gonna be remembered as kanye’s gospel album

    if it’s even remembered

Nah in 20 years everyone will also praise ye and JIK. Nobody is going to hate on these albums like nobody hates on the Prince and MJ albums.

Is your theory in reference to critics or fans? Because if we talking fans I saw a positive reception

Yes dude look at Twitter. If you think that people who listen to Taylor Swift, Ariana grande and Olivia rodrigo, and read buzzfeed are the biggest demographic of Kanye fans then idk what to say. Cause it’s just simply not true lol

Ye has Ghost Town and that s***s on every song on JIK

But JIK just has more good songs though due to it being 11 tracks. Don’t let the hatred of gospel cloud your thoughts peeps

No, that's not what I said. Kanye is a mainstream pop artist like those artists.

The OP claimed JIK is repugnant for casually racist white liberals who like Kanye. We already agree they like Kanye. Kanye has been a Billboard artist for decades now. You literally cannot be that unless you are appealing to the majority. Who are the majority? It's really that simple. Majority white. Majority liberal, especially when it comes to entertainment diet.

Twitter is majority male, a small amount of users represent most of its activity, etc. If you used KTT to determine who were fans of Olivio Rodrigo you'd think she only appealed to gay men in their 20s.

Yup. Too many stans letting their stanness get in the way

S*** I’m a Kanye stan but stans need to realize not everything their GOAT releases is classic s***

Yeah most of Kanye’s discog is classic s*** but post 2016 is a different story

I mostly skip ye but there’s def a handful of JIK songs I love tbh

  • MyBallsAndMyWord

Kanye’s fanbase post 2010 has been overrun by white hipsters. The most dangerous kind of people because they can hide their passive racism behind a thin veneer of faux-progressivism. So there’s two things going on here. A) they prefer “artsy” hip hop because that is more comfortable for their white, indie music sensibilities. JIK is a raw gospel album - a historically black genre of music - and isn’t quirky enough and doesn’t have any Bon Iver features so naturally they want nothing to do with it. B) Even tho they’ll never admit it, they prefer their black entertainers to be wilding out making fools of themselves - as long as it doesn’t offend their liberal proclivities. They can’t stand seeing a black man search for meaning and positivity in his life. This reaction is further exacerbated because it’s explicitly religious music. I’m an atheist but many of these edgy types think religion is a purely evil thing which can’t possibly be a source for some people to grow, change, and better themselves which is false.

So it’s a combination of casual liberal racism and people simply not being actual hip hop fans (which is a byproduct of said racism)

am black and love gospel music and this is cap.

I think violent crimes is cringe

But yeah that’s what I said. Ghost Town the song is “better than whole jik lmaoz”, but JIK still has the most good songs of the two

  • Dec 12, 2021

Honestly its the lack of work he put into it... all the back and forth between JIK and Yandhi... then we got left with a 7 track, 30ish minute album, completely purified from what was suppose to be Yandhi. Ye left us with crap at the end of the day.
