The only albums I can vouch for are conrgatulations and little dark age. Everything else is a miss for me
will check out MGMT
only experience I have with them is Electric Feel lol
im not trying to make you mad
you think those are genuinely great projects?
Die a legend is one of the greatest debut albums since Get Rich tbh
King Krule is pretty dope, The Ooz is rated pretty highly and Tyler called it his AOTY

Also check out Steve Lacy and The Internet. Thundercat. Blood Orange, he probably played a role in some of your favorite albums without you even knowing. Stopped keeping up with mainstream hip hop like 5 years ago, I prefer music like this way more
All great picks, Kiwanuka so underrated.
yessir my friend was just telling me to check out more paramore
Im pop-punk guy so I am totally down to get into them I think itll be up my alley
yes they are great
I have deleted 75% of the bladee from my library I feel my mental health returning
Also what the hell how was I really listening to a lot of that lol
It's also the formula for a lot artists. go more "urban" when their sales are bad, then going back to the (white) audience
cough Miley Cyrus & Post Malone

hey don't say that
hey don't say that
hes got a few great songs but i realized that if part of getting into an artist is admititng that they're bad then they're probably just bad
Leandoer is still goated tho

I'd prolly check out their latest record then it's pretty accessible

Oh I think bladee makes good music

like those are both very cool

Really loved When You Die and the music video is one of the most accurate depictions of visuals on psychedelics imo. I guess its just a thing for me with music made by these kind of bands. Kid A, OK Computer, We Will Always Love You, Is This It all didn't hit as hard as I would've expected based on the praise they get
Anytime someone mentions that the new gen of rappers ain't all that there's always someone saying "oldhead"
Like bruh yall don't see the difference in quality from even 5 years ago when uzi and em were blowing up to now
Polo G and Roddy r prolly the best we got but even they gotta switch their styles up a lil more

I respect it I do like some Bladee but I feel like I just dont like a lot of bladee anymore
very valid
I guess now I have a huge understanding of trap/rap and (mainstream) R&B and know a lot of deep cuts/lesser known songs from my favorite artists so its not even really a "sunk cost"
Better phrasing on my part would be Im a little tired of my genre of choice and Im just super excited to get into new stuff
I exclusively listened to rap from like 2014- early 2016 and then I started exploring other genres. I hardly listen to rap anymore.
I think it’s healthier to just listen to what you like though. For a while I felt this pressure to listen to what was “good” and critically acclaimed. You find a lot of good stuff that way but you might miss out on stuff you actually enjoy.

feel this super hard I think a part of my genre burnout is that most new rappers are super boring or thug clones
@op u have a whole lifetime to explore new stuff
good luck on your journey

Been saying since 2014 that rap would fall off because everyone was doing the trap sound. Don't keep up with any of these new artists anymore. I sit and listen to albums, 20 tracks of the same sounding s*** just gets draining

That could be very short or long

i think itll be a lot of fun I havent felt so excited about getting into new music since like the first time I heard Frank Ocean lol
I can see that like there isn't always gon be much chance to be on discover mode as you grow old and you're bound to be more occupied with even more things. Worse is when you face a music 'burnout' lol
Ima say tho the whole journey of discovering new stuff was organic like and occurs gradually over time. Getting barraged with recs isn't how I found mine, this being my own experience ofc

I totally feel this entirely but I asked my roomate for some and loved everything he showed me so I kinda just want a sample platter to find some staritng points
