Every joke has a butt end
Just like every story has a protagonist

Show me some jokes that arent at anyone, or anythings expense

No there's a difference between saying the N word in discord and a bill burr set up joke

But its pretty obviously different to make a joke that relies on offensive stereotypes or uses racist language, than it is to laugh cos someone opened a shaken up can of coke and it sprayed then

Is it funny or just hateful?

Cuz if its funny, deal with it. Ive broken down some of the differences between a joke, and a hateful comment itt.

If u get offended by everything, and cant tell the difference, then thats on u, not the joker.

It’s a complex topic. It depends on the intention, the context, who you’re around, if you behave certain ways that may lend your “sense of humor” to truthful feelings. The simple solution would be to not promote such humor. My friends all find me hilarious, and I never make race-jokes because I don’t feel right doing so.

Still, I think that the older a person gets and the more exposed they are to reality of the things they make light of, like starving African kids, slavery, and suicide to name a few, the more awareness they have before they speak. People say “we use humor to cope with the hard parts of life,” but I think it’s more of a sign of ignorance or immaturity than anything else. At least most of the time.

It’s very rare that a person truly uses humor to cope, such as a rape victim who makes rape joke themselves. Or blacks who make slave jokes. But that’s a whole other topic I guess.

If you acknowledge different people get offended by different things, and find different things funny - then you can’t really be the sole judge of what is a joke and what is a hateful comment, as people will accordingly have different views on that.

I’m no supporter of outrage and taking offence for the sake of it, but absolutely believe that in most cases the right of someone to feel offended outweighs the right of someone telling others what they can and can’t be offended by.

Would you make a rape joke in front of someone you knew had recently been brutally raped?

You become more powerful as a person every time you laugh at a joke that's at your expense

Every joke is at someone or somethings expense. Every single f***in one.

Humor as a whole even. Ppl fall, u laugh.

Every joke youve ever laughed at could have been offensive to someone else.

U dont understand humor, is what ur saying.

How is Larry David/Jerry Seinfeld funny then? If your sense of humor is low-brow,just say that.

Right, but then if you made a rape joke in front of someone who had been raped and you didnt know before, or just someone who doesnt think rape should be joked about, youd criticise them for taking offence?

Yea,there’s always a point to everything or else telling a joke/reading a book or watching a movie would be a total waste of time and unfulfilling. But if your genuinely a funny person, you can make everyday conversation and make people laugh. That’s how I see Larry David,he can literally talk to you about anything and probably make you laugh just from his convo.

Rape is more or less taboo, even in comedy, in 2020

And they probably would, doesn’t make it any less funny. I’m just saying that it takes skill and a sense of intelligence to add humor to your personality, where it’s an effortless thing. It’s very easy to tell an ugly or lame joke that’s aimed to offend.

    Exactly

It IS pretty easy to tell the difference from a joke, and a halfwit offensive comment.

Why do we act like it isnt in 2020?
