It’s a company that has IPOed
Feel like when a company does this it's slowly downhill culturally and you stay as long as your RSUs will hold you
And for flexibility, for starters, your hours
You could consider looking into a start-up before you delve into self employment: the flexibility and salary would be good, plus you could meet like minded people to build with
Basically freelancing at this point
software engineer (1 level below senior, 1 above new grad)
What are the pre requisites to get this position?
Also how much do you have in savings and how long were you with the company
software engineer (1 level below senior, 1 above new grad)
What company?
Not interesting
You’ll probably get a new job soon
We already ran up a milli! So the s*** ain't really interesting
Why? It’s depressing and unfulfilling and just doing it for the money will give you golden handcuffs that will make you hate your life and be unable to do anything about it either
I don't think you understand how many people feel the exact same way you do but they're making $200k less..
Worst case scenario. I work 2 years and then quit with quite a bit saved up and I can use that to move to something much less stressful.
But the skillset is what really matters to me.
Could you teach me? I would be very happy to learn from someone who's actually been in that kind of situation as they have more insight than most.
Don’t want to work for anyone else again, at least as a software engineer anymore
Crine just become a manager for a team. Easy job and you don’t have to do anymore coding for the most part.
u know running your own business demands significantly more of your time, right?
Speaking from personal experience, once it becomes established you can spend a significant amount more time doing something else you want and still continue working or hire an employee. Being your own boss has massive benefits. At my business rn recording raps

i mean that’s just completely anecdotal
my dad has run a software company for the last 25 years and still needed to put in 80–90 hours a week before his strokes this year and he has multiple employees
my best friend put in a similar amount of time in and his company went bankrupt this year after six years of operation
im glad that it sounds like you’re doing well but not everyone has an experience like that.
Stereotypical corporate soul-sucking and utterly meaningless way to spend 40 hours/week of my life
Want to figure out how to create my own company next
Relatable, I'd like to do the same

And you’re completely correct. I’ve watched many business in my industry close shop and not have the luxury of a consistent client base or people willing to work.
I still gotta put in my 62 hours a week so I get it, not everyone has the luxury to balance their business with their personal life and some of us get the luck of the draw
Sorry to hear bout your pops, he sounds like a strong man

appreciate that; my dad still trying to run his company when he’s down and out too
and yeah, my point to OP wasn’t that she wouldn’t ever have free time but that she shouldn’t have the idea that it’d be more liberating or less stressful than a 9–5 just because she doesn’t have a boss. if she’s ready to put that extra time and effort in to get and keep things running, more power to her. anyone that works that hard deserves that win.
me personally, i’m cooling with my at-home job because i don’t have a huge issue working for someone else if they treat me fairly
Who do you think would win in a fight, @Clamoa2 or @Gyro ?
Now we’re asking the real questions

My boy tito a millionaire
