mans dissed malcolm x in a topic about ian and then wonders why he got thrown to the lions.
respect for taking (mostly) accountability though.
Ill b honest I was tryna make it entertaining, that's my personality I say wild s*** for fun
Tylers music was mostly popular with "weirdo alt" black people and white skater kids
He had many black fans just as white, they just werent "normal black" people lol
In early OF days, bro had fans anyone young from Hispanic to white and black. Even some normie folks were f***ing with the antics
I think Earl and Slums mutually benefited from all of that. He found a new direction and all those guys found audiences. MIKE especially.
Tyler is also a producer and a music video director. Who's he sending beats? Is he shooting anyone's videos?
Say you want more DJ Quiks and only put on Teezo rockstar. Doesn't track
you do have a point there though, as much as tyler is inspired by pharrell he isn’t exactly out here making the entire industry better by producing and writing for people like big P was doin back in the day and even a few years ago. tf is he even doing these days, making LV runoff ass clothes with his brand i guess? i do fw tyler overall though
Also @YoungNastyShawty idk if you've seen this but Ian's official spokesperson in this thing is this 30 year old white trust fund finance guy who got famous on tik tok for putting underground rap in his videos

Pharrell was getting placements by everyone and they mama.
Tyler was/is not.
Gotta watch this later
yea the thumbnail is a lil bit clickbaity for me i dont think hes actually an oldhead but i do think tyler is blessed to have not tried to get famous in the algorithms era
Pharrell was getting placements by everyone and they mama.

i guess you’re right. he used to talk all the time about how he tried to send people tracks but they’d always reject em lol. s*** makes me sad
That 13:30 onwards is exactly why niggas was mad about that panel.
The white/white adjacent demographic of this site don’t understand that kinda anger tho.
NAH YNS SPITTING FROM HERE ON
SOME OF YALL DONT UNDERSTAND MAN

Because artists these days are
Type YouTube beats ruined artists actually taking risks.
Christina Aguilera used a goddamn Dj Premier beat for one of her biggest songs. Now every pop girl gotta sound the same.
Rappers oh we already dont need to talk about how bad they gotten at beat selection.
It’s crazy all these years and Kendrick the ONLY mainstream rapper that hopped on a Knxwledge beat?
Like Pharrell was blessed to be in an era folks wanted to venture out to those weird beep boop sounds of his and Chad’s. Tyler’s been handicapped cause these niggas keep turning down his beats.

listening at work
we are old heads lol in all forms of art. The medium has entirely changed whether you are talking music, movies, tv or film
the delivery method has entirely changed
s*** even in food
we biked to Mcdonalds with our quarters
a kid today can wake up turn on a cellphone and have food delivered to them
we live in the "future"
in terms of everything is much more accessible
we grew up on AOL Dial up the process to receive ANY FORM OF INFORMATION used to take more work and cost more effort and attention in every way shape and form
Artist arent going to take art SERIOUSLY
because ITS DEVALUED
so when I go at Tyler its because he is punching down at the artist more than THE MACHINE
you are using your bullets on the henchmen while the bosses are laughing at that
Great video Eric. my only hope is some type of new curation tool and better A & Rs come into existence.
Would love a platform that exposes ppl to new music like tik tok does, yet has some sort of quality filter. but at that point it becomes so subjective.
and @Thichquangduck been thinking about your point of streaming killing hip hop def think it correlates with russ's tweet about hip hop in the early 2010s a couple days ago.
MTV doesnt exist in any way shape or form
it went from music television to giving you marathons of cops and cheaters
there are people who never watch music videos anymore its shifted to youtube and stans arguing on social media

Yes everything has changed. The only benefit to streaming has been like a moment like this year of two artist dropping disses back and forth. It created a MOMENT . we were like "oh s*** kendrick dropped" we dropped our life and immediately listened
people listened while in their zoom meeting it was a MOMENT
it was channeling the virality of us hearing words put together we never thought two artist would finally challenge each other
it was Batman vs Superman
but the structure of streaming and "oh s*** this artist hasnt dropped in 5 years and I cant see their social media post they might as well be dead"
WHICH WAS THE EXACT PURPOSE OF FRANK OCEANS ENDLESS LIVE STREAM
our consumption of art and artist has changed so much . They take ad money, we see Chance the rapper see that he possibly doesnt believe in dinosaurs.
Back when I bought TI Paper Trail from Best Buy I didnt know he was possibly trafficking humans lol
I just knew BIG THINGS POPPIN
YES YOU CAN SIT ON THE INTERNET AND DISCUSS IAN but its MORE WORTHWHILE TO LOOK AT THE BIGGER PICTURE

As he is saying we went from an ipod to an ipod touch to a device that can do damn near anything
When I first heard My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy I could primarily listen in one place
Needed to go to a large computer or laptop to come to KTT to discuss it in full
Cellphones were still kind of slow
we texted twitter to tweet
now I can see what a million people think of a song the second it comes out

ayo check dms
That ageism s*** weird to me but maybe it’s because I’m approaching 30 lol but I just never looked at it like that. I remember my brother at 26 tellin me at 20-21 that he felt like he couldn’t relate to the new era of rap (early SoundCloud wave at that time) and I thought he was crazy like nigga you ain’t even old.
And now I got niggas callin me unc in IG comments
That's why I be on here spreading information and literature about niggas
excited to watch this, i just made one too

Hanging mic epidemic is a crazy bar
people take oldhead as a bad term when I jokingly own it because we genuinely lived a different life than the youth and thats okay but accept reality
