Also no one look now but CLB is ahead of Mr Morale...LA we got work 2 do...
I used codecademy and that ended up being a great place to start. Paid for a month of their pro subscription. I think it was like $40? Then just watched a bunch of YouTube videos. If you already know JS then React should be pretty easy
what's hilarious is that back when i had my computer wannabe coder phase, i used to obsessively use the codeacademy trial and even takes notes
amazing to see it actually can help you learn s*** like you did

Nah but I really used to do that too lmao. I probably took the C# course with trial accounts like four times over the years trying to make little games in Unity. The only difference this time is I had a small project with a tight focus that I really wanted to see completed. And it still took like two months.

how hard would you say it was to pick up in general? i even went as far to pirating an ebook on python and trying to teach myself but my resolve wasn't very good
i've always struggled trying to teach myself s***

It definitely wasn't easy but it's not impossible. Having a project in mind while I was going through the courses definitely helped though. I was able to take what I was learning and directly apply it to what I wanted to do. Then I just started small. Like first figuring out how to generate random pairs of albums from a group of albums. Then figuring out how to record the results. Then making a ranking from the result. And on and on. Just a bunch of really small doable problems that eventually add up to a whole site.
wait is there no end
There's 110k possible album matchups so yeah there's an end...eventually lol

ahhhh, cuz after like 500 clicks I was like🤨
amazing, well done man. you have a GitHub?
appreciate all the love. There was def a version of this in my head were the responses all went the complete opposite way.
I've got GitHub but right now it's all private. Mainly cause I work in tech and have a bunch of friends that are actual developers and the thought of them poking around my terrible code was and is still pretty embarrassing. I'm also terrible at version control. I go days without committing anything because I just forget. Thankfully this has all been a solo job and I haven't broken it so bad I needed to roll back the entire project...so my poor GitHub practices haven't bitten me in the ass yet

It’s interesting because some dude YESTERDAY made a thread about how he was making a website that determines how unique your music taste was, and like half the thread was clowning him
Very interesting how this site works

Thank god I didn't see that s***. I would've deleted the whole project lol

It helps that your website is very simple and easy to use. No logging into Spotify or anything like that so more people are drawn to it, great work for real dude!

fair enough man, I can relate to that second point very much. props for having the courage to put your work out there regardless this is some really clean and tight work. definitely keep tightening things up where you can, I know it’s currently just for ktt but this is definitely something that can reach a wider audience too
