thought this was a davidp thread
they're gonna call you old and say how "omg you should be listening to this microtrend hyped album that we'll only talk about for two weeks max 🤓☝️" and that "real music is out there you just gotta dig in the deepest corners of the internet"
but i understand the sentiment especially from a mainstream point and with specific genres/movements not being in their artistic prime in comparison to 10/15 years ago
there is still good music out there, but i don't think this mindset is one to be automatically dismissed
lol drake lost and now niggas are questioning if they even like music
When ur enjoyment of music is based on the spectacle of album sales(…?) then you’d be pretty depressed when the shows over

there's so many projects that get this same exact treatment online
Ok maybe its exaggeration on my part and I apologize for it but who out here lately has had waning interest in music?
this music s*** is everything to me man..

I’m not gonna disagree but the phenomenon of mainstream culture and superstars and mass zeitgeist has only been around for 70 years and there was never indication of it lasting forever
27 and i’m with OP.
Was in the car playing Tyler new album with my wife and neither of us were feeling it beside a few songs, and even those weren’t crazy. Then we went back to songs like “Smuckers” and “48” and said out loud “damn; people don’t make music like this anymore.”
Idk maybe it’s just aging like wine, and this album can too. But in it’s current state everything just seems so deflating. Like it’s a chore to get though.
Not all music though. Jean Dawson album is fresh air, some other albums/songs too, but overall is just so meh
Whenever I run out of music I let my Spotify play past a playlist and the recommended tracks usually lead me to a new artist that fits my preference
That’s how I first found Cleo sol a few years ago
I honestly enjoy a lot of music still.
Even the supposed bad or mid albums, I find a few songs I really like.
Maybe there aren't as many consistently great projects (if I had to guess the change in distribution probably plays a role) but there's still great music.
Plus I feel people simply don't give music chance like that, they have like 1 listen max and form opinions.
Then post stupid s*** 1 year later how it was actually good and aged well when the music was simply good the moment it came out but you were too adamant about calling it mid based off your single listen and in some cases, the pre-formed opinions about certain artists.
The whole way we market and interact with media has changed.
Gotta affect music somehow tbh.
people are having a hard time figuring out that streaming services are just the radio
you've gotta dig again, there's no indie site telling you about s*** anymore Especially not KTT
