can't say i am "worried" about it no.

If anything, I do worry about the lack of newer generation artists hitting complete super stardom, last two i can think of are trav and carti.

It's cliche but Juice and X passing away I reallllly do think had a negative overall impact on this idea. I think both could have been fairly big, but maybe not. look at yeat, he does not seem posed to reach super stardom

someone like Yeat or Ian will never make it big like that

despite how “good” their fans think the music is it’s, even more of an act than people criticize Drake for

The masses are not gonna connet with some PNW kid doing an atl accent rapping about lean and opps while Thug is in jail

People liked Eminem because he was being himself

Even post Malone wasn’t as egregious with the s*** like Yeat is

    They are just sideshows

    very good point.

Anyone you believe is next in line for "big three" potential?

It's so many dope artists out there

fr. I'll never get the mentality of "music sucks nowadays" because there are so many artists out there. Music has literally never been better, especially with how accessible it is.

Whatever it is that you're looking for, it's probably out there, but you're for sure not going to find it without looking for it and only listening to Spotify-curated playlists.

i dont all the way agree wit that
there hasnt been like a major beef of this caliber (PAUSE) since the 90s so it's fair to be this excited to have that aspect of rap restored in some way since its been mostly friendly s*** for the past decade and change

weve had new interesting artists for some time now and they arent pushing the needle because the spotlight not really on them
we not in an era where they really giving niggas a chance anymore it's all about "what's working right now, ok then more of that" like we are on the tail end of the bad b**** rap wave it feel like

    This.

The newer generation rappers aren't really dropping classics like that and the ones who can really rap or write aren't mainstream.

Last paragraph on point. You right. Thats why even the new artists that pop like Yeat, Ian, Netspend, they building off a sound n vibe that is already working.

Rather than coming in with their own wave. The industry has commecialized creativity, they only want to get behind things they know are gonna go.

the issue is tho is that we're literally in a new era of rap talent with the girls but despite they s*** ringing off in the clubs n s***, it doesnt really feel like much about the landscape has changed

the real question is was hip hop on the decline prior to covid and covid winded up finishing it off or was covid the murderer from the jump

Depends on what you mean by "decline."

2022, imho, was one of the best years in hip hop in recent times.

I feel like you'd have to be in a slumber to ignore all the great projects that dropped that year. And hip hop hasn't really declined much commercially either.

I just think KTT is getting older. I just turned 28, work full time, and have my own place. The Opium/Rage, Trap, Thot, and Drill rappers that saturate the newer generation can only be enjoyed in doses by someone like myself. I can listen to the better artists from those subgenres but it won't hold me down as much as the OG's who often operate at a higher level than them. Even Drake, Kanye, Jay, and Wayne's lesser albums have songs I can revisit more than a lot of projects from newer rappers deemed "hot."

So, it really depends on your POV. That thread about Wayne's 14 year old son was an eye opener. And I see kids hyping up Durk and others as legends too. We just becoming the new oldheads and don't realize it.
