Last paragraph on point. You right. Thats why even the new artists that pop like Yeat, Ian, Netspend, they building off a sound n vibe that is already working.

Rather than coming in with their own wave. The industry has commecialized creativity, they only want to get behind things they know are gonna go.

    that too

but i was mostly talking about how the girls was running s*** for a bit in rap but it doesnt feel like theres a real draft/tailwind coming off them because the hype feels so flash in the panish outside of a few acts: meg, ice, sexyy

like you would think with hiphop filling itself out more (PAUSE) with the girls comparatively to like...nikki's prime, that things would be more lively but it somehow doesnt feel any more different and we're still mourning musically over people like juice and x because we truly believed they'd help carry the torch for the new gen. i sadly dont see that being said about the girls

Depends on what you mean by "decline."

2022, imho, was one of the best years in hip hop in recent times.

I feel like you'd have to be in a slumber to ignore all the great projects that dropped that year. And hip hop hasn't really declined much commercially either.

I just think KTT is getting older. I just turned 28, work full time, and have my own place. The Opium/Rage, Trap, Thot, and Drill rappers that saturate the newer generation can only be enjoyed in doses by someone like myself. I can listen to the better artists from those subgenres but it won't hold me down as much as the OG's who often operate at a higher level than them. Even Drake, Kanye, Jay, and Wayne's lesser albums have songs I can revisit more than a lot of projects from newer rappers deemed "hot."

So, it really depends on your POV. That thread about Wayne's 14 year old son was an eye opener. And I see kids hyping up Durk and others as legends too. We just becoming the new oldheads and don't realize it.

2022 was for sure, but i think that also had to do with us seeing the light at the end of the tunnel on covid

a lot of industry, not just music, held off during covid and didnt start putting out their projects until after the dust had settled on it sum

that plays a part too. not just ktt but the people in general that listened to rap around the same age as the average user is prolly going through the same motions. it could be more appropriate to say that rap isnt dying so much as it is regressing in age compared to the audience that grew up with it. the popular sound is a party sound, which i guess is good for popularity's sake, but im not sure if it's good for the longevity of the art

Word none of these girls are it like that.

It almost seems like this female rap wave is a filler arc for the next superstars arrival.

Beef shouldnt be the most exciting thing about hip hop.

New interesting artist's and sounds should.

this is bigger than beef tho. this is the biggest conflict in rap history. a cultural takedown of a hit-maker who never belonged in the genre to begin with. this isnt rapper vs rapper this is literally rapper(s) vs industry and its not over yet, its far from over

you gotta change the way you look at this my boy cause this is nothing like pac and biggie or 50 nd game or gucci and jeezy. this is literally rap history in the making

aide from tht, both of those things are exciting

Molly santana the best female rapper

Even if we get new acts, none of them would maintain consistency that’s required. Hip hop is looking cooked

    Nah not really

Everything comes to an end and no genre remains the focal point of the culture forever

Suprised hip-hop has had the run that it did tbh

In 1924 there were probably people worried about the future of Jazz or whatever

even if it did (which it wont) it would be a textbook hollow victory for a product of Drakes caliber with the like ACTUAL industry up tops behind him.

basically numbas dont mean s*** and only a sucka would they they do he has no respect among his contemporaries anymore even AK is damn near doing a 180 from him and fighting his own weird case, not a mf in the game is going to be willing to meaningful feature, he's been estranged from the game. you gotta think like this fraternizing with drake from this point forward is going to look weird on anyone doing so. not like he has anyone in his corner anyway cause he cant keep his cock in his pocket. that boy gonna have to do what mgk and rebrand to pop or rock or some s***

youre underestimating the influence and supporrt of kendrick and i dont blame you either since i didnt kno about it befor this but look that man up ask about him. drake has the industry but kendrick lamar has the respect and the people which counts for much more

I'd worry if I only cared about mainstream hip hop

But I know rxknephew got me

  • Ion care no more it’s gon do what it do

  • Me too honestly

  • It's not just hip hop. Movies as well. It's everything. It's all oversaturated. It's all been built up into speculative bubbles. We're all getting older. We're all overstimulated.

Video games are up. Podcasts are up. Books are dead. Generational drift.

What did you expect Hip Hop was originally going to be or what direction was it headed to?
