Blade Runner inspired Akira feel like you anime nerds would have more respect for it
Dune Pt. 1 is just a great prologue to what is about to come, either way it wouldn't have gotten more love
More hype of course, Pt. 2 is gonna break some records for sure
So youre saying it def had the most to do with it being a part 1?
Wondering how the first LOTR was received if you would talk to ppl irl during the release

Every LOTR movie was great on its own though(Not that Dune Pt. 1 wasn't but you get the idea)
Dune Pt. 1 is genuinely mostly building up to the second part, a lot of the scenes have a slower pace just to explain everything that is going around

it inspired something greater then it
cool
2049 is eons better then Dune
That being said Dune is the first part of a grander story.
and both have completely different aesthetics going for them overall.
Just like Arrival and Sicario (both two films that i also prefer over Dune)
That's not how you eon

its kinda diff tho bc lotr books is also 3 books so its easier to adapt the first one into a “full” movie yk
If 2048 is better than the OG then Force Awakens is better than New Hope
Basically the same rehashes going on

yeah thats true but its a sequel so i dont mind that
Force awakens and anh is a literal copy so i disagree with that comparison

I just don’t know what 2049 brought to the table that is something new. It was a continuation for the sake of continuation.
Denis handled it greatly. But Blade Runner is the true goat.
I’m sounding like a nut and don’t want to derail any further
I digress lol
BF2042 sucked 👎👎 too many glitches
Avi to name to post ratio looking like a trolling white person
I feel like Dune 2 is just going to be more of Dune 1, people shouldn't pretend that the first movie was like this because it's just the beginning, it was like that because it's Villineuve.
And Yes, BR2049 is much better then Dune.

This is wrong tho. There's a literal book he's following. Like there's not a secret of whats to come. Only question is how Denis chooses to tackle it.
i feel like a lot of this thread is not understanding that both of these films are vasssstly different because they're vassstly different approaches. There's reasonings behind pretty much all of their differences and only one of them is directly pulling from source material
Dune wasn't like that because it was Denis, it was like that because its the first half of Dune by Frank Herbert represented as good as we've seen in the 40 years of difficult and failed attempts adaptations
