Hell have a 40 on metacritic and simultaneously occupy the top 25 spots on the Hot 100

We have to acknowledge there's simply a disparity between avid music enthusiasts and casual listeners

Twitter is just an echo chamber in reality majority of people enjoy it

Exactly! you would think that they would've stopped listening long time ago, but here they are back at every release. like what are they getting out of it at this point? its insanity

it's literally their job, so they can review the music

This is looking to be his worst selling album ever (excluding collabs and HN) actually so it seems like a decline is on the horizon

    And here it is.

First we got the “you can’t properly judge an album off one listen” thread, and now we got the “why do you keep listening if you don’t like it” thread.

All bases of cope have been covered.

In general, Drake is loved by NPCs and people of low intelligence. In general, Drake is criticised by people that care about music. How is this hard to understand?

  • Oct 9, 2023

F*** the critics, f*** the people who act like Drake hasn’t had a good album since Views, and f*** the people who act like he isn’t the only one that’s still doing this s*** man

well, they clearly have a bias against his music. so why write the same review thousands of times... at that point its a lost cause. nothing of value is gained

    It’s really just common sense.

this is not to say a lot of criticism of Drake's music constantly made by KTT users isn't valid tho

Been giving Drakes albums an obligatory listen based on TC, NWTS, IYRTITL, WATTBL. Some of these are my most listened hiphop albums, so obviously i like his music. But at the same time its like 10-15 years ago that i started listening.

After the last three projects I am not sure ill bother giving his new albums an obligatory listen anymore unless people recommend it. Going through a bloated 20-25 tracklist from an artist whos increasingly becoming more and more absorped and isolated in his world is just tedious. Theres no perspective or interesting about it anymore.

Drakes text universe simply bores me so f***ing much lately. Like of recent drops I havent returned once to a single album except DLDT.

Listened to For All The Dogs in the car home from a trip with my GF, and we both mostly shrugged shoulders and just was sorta meh about the whole album.

So while Drakes still popular, hes definitely wearing thin on some of his older fans. But I mean im 32 and it could also be that I simply outgrew his music and target audience.

I like drake but this like asking why mcdonalds is one of the most popular resturant if everyone says the food tastes like s***

  • Vibe

People that enjoy his music aren't as vocal as the people that hate on it (That goes for any artist really)

It's so difficult for a 23 song album to be an enjoyable full listen, especially on first listen

People take their favourites from his albums, get rid of the filler (though everyone has different "filler"), and then they play the f*** out of those songs because they are great individually. Recently, it feels like that's how he's intended his albums to be. You can say that's a bad decision and artistically impure, and it definitely causes a lot of differing opinions. Ignoring the blind hate he gets, a lot of avid music/hip-hop listeners judge albums hard based on that first full listen. Casual fans look to see how many tracks are going into their playlist.

It's also why you get people looking back at his albums and appreciating them more as time passes. They look back at Views and remember Keep The Family Close, Redemption, Weston Road Flows, U With Me, Fire and Desire. They don't remmeber the songs they didn't like or the length of the project. Drake is always good for giving everyone something that will stick with them.

He makes good songs and mediocre albums comprised of 50% filler

But its possible to make good album. NWTS is prime example imo. For me personally, no skips. Less tracks but very high quality production, high quality mix, whole project is cohesive and consise. It just sounds that Drake and Noah took their time to make those songs as good as possible. There are ofcourse stronger and weaker parts but as a project, its really good.

And I get that many people are kinda dissapointed because they heard what is Drake capable of and they always expect to hear that high level music with upcoming project. Same with me. Drake is my favourite artist of all time. But I just expected more from him. And its not hate boiling in me its more like sadness. FATD has some good songs but overall its like a 6/10 from me.
