Critics aren’t worried about how many bangers there are or how many catchy songs and IG quotables there are, they’re judging the album overall as a complete package and artistic statement from the guy who’s been at the top for 15 straight years.

Whereas casual consumers (like most Drake stans) are just looking for catchy records, fun anthems, and quotes for their IG pictures. Drake will never fail at delivering those three things, which is why he’s as popular as he is, and the Hot 100 reflects the preferences of casual music listeners, not music critics or people that care about the art on a deeper level

He’s built up such a big fanbase of casuals who are too lazy to search for new music so they get most excited whenever he’s dropping. They may be let down but they’ll still listen because it’s one of the few albums they cared enough to listen to front to back.

MCU has been terrible for a long time, and saw rising popularity during part of that time. But eventually poor quality catches up with you.

I don't think FATD is awful or anything, but yes if Drake keeps pumping out FATDs then eventually his sales will start to dip too

Has little to do with poor quality, aside from SheHulk, it's called the MAGA short lol (Anheuser-Busch, Target, Disney).. they're going through a culture war battle which inevitably leads to boycotts and loss in shareholder value.. quality is gonna dip when you can't hire Oscar worthy actors to play your roles cuz you wanna give new ppl a shot. That's fair, maybe MCU isn't the right example. But I do think there is such a thing as "too big to fail" in music, especially in the age of low attention spans.
