Aquilla· editedHonestly, it has to be a completely new genre imo. A lot of the genres y'all mentioned are genres that have been around for years (Pop, Afrobeats), insular in nature (Country), or completely gentrified (House).
It's definitely something that we're not use to yet. It's coming tho. The 30 year music cycle hasn't failed yet. We're probably seeing the last signs of relevance for Hip Hop until something pops off.
Yup I wouldn't be surprised if the youth come with a new genre.

Historically, black folks have always been at the forefront of these developments. So, I'm excited to see what we venture into. I definitely hear an influence of Dance, House, and Electro Funk going around. This, in particular to the younger artists I've been listening to. So, a merger of that would be sick
Don't get me wrong, I love Hip Hop but it's time is coming more than most people like to admit. We've been spoiled by it's dominance, to the point where we think it will stay on top forever. Same thing happened with Jazz and Rock. It'll be phased out by something cooler and defiant: that's insane to me
but it's going to occur one way or another.R&B/Soul is always going to be the genre that'll continue to be fluid and adaptable. It's going to be popular but it's not gonna compete against the titan, per say.

If you think about all the big rap artist's that have been pushed since 2020 have been all female.
Last real male rap superstars we had were X,Peep n Juice
The female rap push is because women actually stream and buy more merch , go to more tours then men do. Look on a site like Rostr for Male/Female splits of any Top 10 Monthly Listeners on Spotify and it will mostly all be female majority.

Nobody cares about heart on your sleeve r&b anymore. Everyone writes about s***and temptation and the emotional aspect is left completely muted.
I think the audience for hip-hop and r&b have become accustomed to this devolved soundscape sadly.

Maybe not in mid cities but LA/Miami/NY/Houston they bumping Feid heavy at all major clubs.

They don't have a superstar the level of Bad Bunny but they have Feid/Karol G/Rauw Alejandro that are doing better numbers/touring than most rappers outside of a few.
Karol G literally f***ing did 140 MIL from just 15 shows.

also as much as hip hop has been a joke, its aesthetics are still somewhat authentic where as modern country is as fake as it gets.
theres always at least some mainstream rappers whose story is "authentic" where as country its far and few inbetween
i think country is just gonna open the door for a larger influx of guitar based and more traditionallly electronic music
atlantic is dropping 50 artists most will be hip hop, now look at who theyve been signing cor past 2 years, their latest release is a shoegaze record from julie, the hellp is dropping soon, its all ab late 90s to early 00's revivalism
dirty hit might push that been stellar band as strokes 2.0, if they can catch as much steam as beabadoobe (fun fact a wayan girl is in that band, shoutout nepo)
al its gonna take is one major label rock act to have a steve lacy moment and the momentum will follow, steve wasn't able to do it bc he obviously didnt want that level of success + world not ready for hip hop to die just yet
ethnic / urban music will be dominated by afrobeats and reggaeton but popular music will mostly be racially ambigious + wasian indie artists
