West Asian & Middle Eastern acts are definitely needed
if someone makes middle eastern music digestable to the western hemisphere they will be huge
there are many country and pop songs that just like gentrified hip hop songs
And reggaeton is really an extension of Hip Hop, if you think about it.

yeah it's the blend between dancehall, reggae, hip hop, and i guess techno but music as a whole was being influenced by techno at the time i think
Rap music’s strong embrace of capitalism is just not the vibe we’re heading into right now.
1. Those numbers are fugazi
2. No he won’t
3. NFL handed the keys to Jay back when rap was dominant. We’ll see if they re-up when the deal expires
"When rap was dominant"
You're cooked bro.
Nothing
Pop music will dominate the charts and be a blend of all popular genres while everything else will be niche and appeal to specific demographics
The idea of a megastar rapper that dominates pop culture conversation ends with Drake and just don’t see a scenario where another genre emerges and appeals to the masses and has megastars at the forefront
Rap music’s strong embrace of capitalism is just not the vibe we’re heading into right now.
country will not be sustainable esp under a dem presidency, and the alt right doesnt really align with those working class aesthetics
also as much as hip hop has been a joke, its aesthetics are still somewhat authentic where as modern country is as fake as it gets.
theres always at least some mainstream rappers whose story is "authentic" where as country its far and few inbetween
i think country is just gonna open the door for a larger influx of guitar based and more traditionallly electronic music
atlantic is dropping 50 artists most will be hip hop, now look at who theyve been signing cor past 2 years, their latest release is a shoegaze record from julie, the hellp is dropping soon, its all ab late 90s to early 00's revivalism
dirty hit might push that been stellar band as strokes 2.0, if they can catch as much steam as beabadoobe (fun fact a wayan girl is in that band, shoutout nepo)
al its gonna take is one major label rock act to have a steve lacy moment and the momentum will follow, steve wasn't able to do it bc he obviously didnt want that level of success + world not ready for hip hop to die just yet
ethnic / urban music will be dominated by afrobeats and reggaeton but popular music will mostly be racially ambigious + wasian indie artists

This is amazing
this would have happened 4 years ago if it wasnt for lil peep, x, juice wrld dying in like the same year then covid
their sound was obviously pushing the hip hop crowd into a more guitar based sound (lucid dreams, jocelyn flores, lil peep whole disco)
u ask me, their death changed the whole trajectory and labels started p****footing around the transition but it's inevitable the rhythm and triplet flows that dominated rap has dried up, and with more and more deaths of young talent theres less and less security in investing in a rapper sadly
we lost keed, von, thug in jail, just lost quan. no one want to invest in rappers rn, its done
Jesus who are you lol

lol thank u, i'm just a nerd tbh but i have fam with p big music marketing / business connects (billboard big)
between dinners with them and being around a pretty prestigious music program in nyc during college (i tried to hang around as much artists as possible, tried to take as many classes with the professors, etc) it all illuminated my perspective on the industry
but most of it is just research and predicting trends, its not hard when you look at historical trends in western popular music(mostly american and british)
my breath of knowledge doesnt exist beyond that but its been a goal of mine to expand outwards outside my handfew of japanese artists i love.
the music industry is less about the creativity and more so about marketing and that's all based on cultivating a consumer base and selling them the desires you influenced onto them
when u think of it like that, the patterns become clearer and you're able to recognize what labels want to sell, it's all about what people with disposable income want to buy into and WHY!!!
the why people want to identify with a brand / image is the most important part in my eyes
