How do you think it would be remembered and taught in history lessons hundreds (or even thousands) of years from now? I’ve been reading about older civilizations (such as Egypt, the Greeks/Romans, Mali Empire) and they’re largely regarded as great and this kind of made me wonder how the U.S would be looked back at years from now.
What would be your take/guess?
Depends on who fills the power
We romanticize Romans and Greeks because Western society is "descended" from them
If you read the actual source material of past history its mostly neutral & just talking of it as it is/was (or thought to be)
The "good" look back is moreso stuff outside the actual source
But idk, the most i guess good position talking if it from an actual historical record source is that usa did a lot, advanced very quick & impacted (negative and positive) while not being a society itself for very long and is actually still quite a newborn in a time context and compared to almost every ither established & major society
I think that would be the main focal point of "the marvel" side of it - which is to be fair true & really unique regardless of the whos and why and hows
Usa is honestly a baby, & even when it does become "grown" it still did the unthinkable as a baby compared to most other societies - including other societies/countries that plated flags upon dead bodies & stolen property its still a fast grower, again, in comparison
Still wild to me he will foever be on the face of the presdient order list posters that are in classrooms of primary schools lmao
Couldnt imagine it back when i was in kindergarten to high
Clinton to bush to obama to trump to biden is a wild last row to think about on them president posters in classrooms 💀💀
I think your question is moot because the United States is the first superpower to make a systematic effort to keep a record of and archive everything possible with backups and every possible translation. People in future will know us for being obsessed with our own little history and making sure that everyone would remember exactly who we were. lol
I always wonder how current times will be portrayed in history books in the future. I feel like were in one of the most significant decades since like the f***ing 1940s
Depends on the country I’d say.
The Ottoman Empire and Qing Dynasty were largely the most powerful empires/countries through most of the 1500s-early 1700s. I don’t think most Americans really care much for that history.
If you’re having kids I’d suggest putting them in mandarin classes really early
I don’t think mfers will care about History that much in 200 years. By then our brains are truly chipped and fried.
I don't think those empires are remembered as great, they were successful in many ways but Egypt in particular as basically just a slave kingdom

Feel like all big empires were slave kingdoms

And to think he’ll be back in shortly

Rome and most ancient empires had slavery as the dominant mode of production

pretty reductionist and ahistorical to call Egypt a “slave kingdom”
and i know we live in the times where absolutes aren’t “real” or whatever, but away from the bullshit relativism, Greece, Rome were largely indisputably great lol, idk if you’re trying to avoid sounding like a chud or what
