Yep, exactly this
Don’t talk s*** bout WWE like that man
I used to be a huge fan of WWE for a good half of my life
Artist's (respective) backgrounds and biography are tightly intertwined with the music itself - this is the reason why artists require a strong social media presence, even when they are already big.
The music industry itself has made it an intertwined prospect to the music.
There's a reason why PR, as a concept, exist.
That's because music speaks to (most) people in a deep way. When you hear something you LOVE, you want to know why it was made, how it was made etc.
People also love rooting for the underdog (well, maybe not on KTT) - hence why industry plants exist; rags to riches type s***.
Even blogs (that receive - mostly unsolicited - emails from broke musicians like me) want to a biography of you as an artist in a form of an EPK (Electronic Press Kit) before they can feel like writing anything about your music.

100% agree with this. A lot of people also find it cool to see an artist, who hasn't blown up yet or is very small, that has a lot of talent.
What about Travis's entire comeup?
