See the problem here is op never defined alt black
I make a post giving some definition to alt black, with that being black people f***ing with s*** outside of black culture. And I say basquiat and jimi doesn't fit that description.
OP replys to that post and says he does cause he was moving with white people and was in the white art world
I say no he doesnt fit that description cause even tho he was in the white art world his art wasn't something outside of black culture, its graffiti and street art, which is black culture. So how does that make him alt black
Just cause something is popular amongst a wide demo dont make them alt black by that description
idk
to me alt black is this.
"WHO'S MANS IS THIS"
like gambino legitimately a hood ass nigga and still found a way to be alt black in Stone Mountain atlanta, the comparison between him and his brother is crazy.
edit: see gambino and steve g lovers career
Jimi Hendrix is starting to get props?
The f*** are you talking about
Seems that you believe your personal experience is every black person’s experience. And if we don’t agree we just some b**** niggas
y’all ain’t never listened to passion pit in the whip while doing drive bys
@gesufaleg can you explain how Tyler is a coon?
I don't know much about him but am leaning towards that conclusion too (from the little I know of him) - I don't want to put that label on him without proper a***ysis though

well i don’t think he’s necessarily a coon but his early edgy behaviour was borderline cooning but i assume that was just his gimmick along with his early homophobia or internal homophobia.
he mentioned a lot about how he was so different from black people and that he was too white for them yet at the same time he would always make that same joke about black people being whatever compared to his alt nature. he’s another one that doesn’t date black men btw

I'm ashamed i had to look up passion pit to understand why this was so funny
Wait y'all TRULY grew up with the mentality that we all think alike
Meaning black people
When I say alternative I dont mean no weird s*** but you know how black ppl always be put in a box. Ppl like Jean Michele finally getting they flowers from more black ppl now instead of being called white and all dat s***. Same for ones like jimi and Tyler tha creator. What yall think?
At your core you're right tho flagrant example I can think of is how many people called Ye gay when he dropped 808s

I wouldn’t put her in that box tbh. I feel like her fanbase is mostly black women. Same w Beyoncé

yeah I made that post fully aware that i'm ignorant to her, but I just remembered she has that song "Don't touch my hair"? I think so yea that was the wrong assumption to make
Jimi a legend but in his heyday he deff had a bigger white audience than black. In his prime black radio stations were more into Aretha Franklin, James Brown, and Motown for their more straightforward R&B sound as opposed to his guitar heavy s***.
Matter fact dude blew up in the UK initially and was almost unknown in the US at first unil his stardom was too big to deny.
OP worded his statement poorly but Hendrix wasn't initially popular with black audiences like some of his contemporaries at the time
