That ain’t what time I’m on u misunderstood read rv post

    read my other post

you have to understand that many many things were locked off from black people. the whole “alternative black” doesn’t make sense because it’s more accepted now black people to be associated with things that aren’t stereotypically seen as black.

but i still think tyler the creator is a bad example because his rap wasn’t that far from the norm it was him being edgy and a skateboarder...

how he is now in terms of music has been that way for lots of black musicians but him as a person he’s more accepted by society because we’ve changed

jimi's music is very black, nothing about is alternative lol... all those white bands/singers/guitar players were just biting from black blues & r&b players. jimi himself was playing on the chitlin circuit before he blew up... never been considered alt lmao. older black people enjoy his music from my personal experience. i didnt learn about him 'cause of white people i learned about him through my father.

    bad example op.

but think about how old your father is ...

So you think black people were f***ing w Jimmy in the 60s like they f***ed w Motown for example?

Definitely not as big as Motown — hell nah. That’s not even what OP’s original post is about tho. He’s talking about more recently, not 60 years ago.

Jimi was one of the few artists I could listen to in the rock genre without being called whitewashed.

Seems y’all are saying Jimi just became black recently? What year did he earn his blackness in your opinion?

OP said him being from the good part of Brooklyn means he was involved with white people and omits from the black culture

I said he wasn't only around white people he was in the streets with black people doing things of black culture

Nah Jimmy was always black. We’re saying artists like Jimmy, basquiat, Tyler etc are becoming more appreciated by young black people because that “oh that’s some white people type s***” mentality is fading away.

For example Tyler said like 2 years ago in an interview that his song got played at a black party and they knew it word for word. He said that was a moment he’d been waiting his whole career for

nothing to do with black culture bruh or him not being black

Bruh he was mostly with white ppl ain’t nothing wrong with that it’s a fact. All his girls were white that’s ok I’m sayin the white art world tried to claim him but now more black ppl appreciate him das all I’m sayin

we're taking about his social awareness based upon the opportunities he was given in America which translated to his art style or jimis music.

which then also translated to his fanbase. then popularity + cultural acceptance.

kinda like how kanye is popular right now and had to make college dropout then compete with 50 cent.

kinda like how trappers aint f***ing wit dev hynes like that right now. (but not all trappers)

People have always and will always say that tho.

Half this site will say artists like JPEGMAFIA and even Kendrick is “white people music”. What has really changed?

The Internet just made y’all more aware of different opinions / tastes that I would argue have always existed

See the problem here is op never defined alt black

I make a post giving some definition to alt black, with that being black people f***ing with s*** outside of black culture. And I say basquiat and jimi doesn't fit that description.

OP replys to that post and says he does cause he was moving with white people and was in the white art world

I say no he doesnt fit that description cause even tho he was in the white art world his art wasn't something outside of black culture, its graffiti and street art, which is black culture. So how does that make him alt black

Just cause something is popular amongst a wide demo dont make them alt black by that description
