Notoriously, one of the worst received albums in the last decade. I confess that the main reason I made this thread is I was curious to listen and talk about this album and needed an excuse.

I came with the expectations of this being the worst album, and to say some positives about it I think the more emotional/chill songs which are always Cudi's strength, can be decent here and this sound works for them. Far from his best stuff but little sparks of light in this album.

That being said the majority of this album is bad, some songs sounding hilarious and some just grating to my ears. Also the lyrics are not good. I like that he goes for a more "rock" voice but somebody should've guided him. This album coming out at a low point in his life makes sense. It's very unhinged / delusional.

Also the last third of the album which is supposed to be B-sides, some of these songs should've been deleted immediately. Audio terrorism.

I understand fans who like this album. It has heart, which is important to me in any album. I also think it comes from a place of appreciation to 90s rock. And I think Cudi could make a good rock album. But make it be more like "Love", not like this!

Edit: Forgot to mention Beavis & Butthead. Luckily there aren't a lot of these skits, but they're very annoying and long.

    Score: 3/10

Favorite songs: Wedding Tux, Confused!, Adventures, SB2H.

there was a youtube playlist that had an abridged version of the album which was like the 10 best songs with bevis and butthead removed and it’s actually good imo. he recorded some stuff from the album in a dark closet into a talkboy recorder the guy was out of his damn mind during the recording of it

Do you have a link to this version? That sounds very intriguing, I hated that album when it dropped but would revisit if I had this version

yeah there’s some real gems on the album i think if cud had an executive producer for it it could’ve been great but i think it’s best viewed as like one of those random instrumental or experimental ass album prince would drop like it’s a non-canon event

Straight up there's 12-13 solid songs on that imo. If he cut it down to those it would've been way better recieved but it is what it is. Real ones know what's up

Played this album earlier today in the car. I know it’s cliche to say so and so saved my life. But this and a few similarly emotional and vulnerable albums from 2018-2019 helped me through these type of thoughts. So this album is improtant to me.

I like the direction that Kanye & Cudi took, I think they’re a good duo with chemistry, Kanye figured out which sound fits Cudi, and lets him shine in this album. Kanye’s verse are alright and the beats and musical direction is very unique but with a nostalgic quality. Doing sort of a fusion with alternative rock with indie. It’s different enough and passionate and still pretty chill album.

The only issue is how short it is and how some of the songs feel a little unfinished like how a lot of Kanye songs started becoming. As I said before I would give all of Wyoming away for a full length version of this. I think it Ghost Town was in this and they treated the album like its own era and not shared with other albums, more people will accept it as one of Kanye’s and Cudi’s best albums. Because the sound hits just right and so does the art direction.

I also like how the message of the album is positive and about accepting yourself. Always a feel good listen to me.

    Keep moving forward…….

    Score: 9/10

Fav songs: Freee, Reborn, Kids See Ghosts, Cudi Montage.

My favorite album album of all time

    Right there with MOTM3

Yeah Daytona is really good. I think I’ll change my take to say this shouldn’t have been a part of the Wyoming era and they shouldve put KSG in its own spotlight.

Man On The Moon 3: The Chosen

I haven't played this album in a while, and still have mixed thoughts about it. Cudi sounds at his most positive and fun here, while most of his other albums are relatively dark and depressive, and this being a MOTM album of course means it'll be emotional, it feels more emotional in an uplifting way, which reminded me of his early music.

The album is fan service-y with references to older songs (in my dreams, solo dolo etc.) and with a more mainstream sound. The first half of the album being essentially Cudi meets rap caivar, the second being more of what we come to expect from the MOTM name, some indie rock influence, but modernized.

So most of my criticism is to the first half. While it has bangers like Tequila Shots, and I'm cool with the idea of Cudi trying to do a mainstream rap sound, it's way too poppy and overproduced and sounds like Travis B-sides at some points. For people that are fans of Cudi's rapping this might be a good direction but I didn't think he played to his strengths. It stripped away Cudi's sound a little and made it sound a bit generic.

The second half is a little bit better, I still don't think it's top tier Cudi but it's pretty cool, ethereal, emotional, melodic and chill, him collabing with Trippie and Phoebe was cool, and it has more of that original MOTM charm. I'll add that he did try to add a "spacey", trippy sound to the album which I appreciate.

Maybe if he called it something other than MOTM3 you wouldn't come into it with the same expectation, also you can't expect everyone to be at their peak a decade later. But I do think the title contributed to the album's success and Cudi's headspace at the time was to get back in the mainstream and satisfy fans so I think this also explains the title. So it's destined to be compared to the first two but also to symbolize some kind of closure for fans.

Rating: 6/10 (second half like an 8/10)

Fav songs: Tequila Shots, Solo Dolo Pt. III, Sad People, Sept. 16, Lovin' Me

    Entergalactic

Let me know if you recommend the film. This album/soundtrack by itself is a vibe and underrated when I think about it. While it falls into the same issue of not being "exciting" enough like other Cudi albums I like the laid back approach on this one, the songs are all slow, emotional and ethereal which are sounds Cudi excels in. I think it has some of his best performances in recent years. It's not overly poppy and it's faithful to his original sound.

I can't imagine a Kid Cudi fan not enjoying this one. I can see maybe people who aren't big on Cudi's sound thinking this is nothing new. This is not as good as his best stuff but it gets way too overlooked. While I'd want more songs like "Entergalactic" from the first album and initially what I thought the album would sound like, what we got is a cohesive album that is supposed to match a vibe for a romantic, emotional film and it's effective for that purpose.

    Rating: 7/10

Fav songs: New Mode, Do What I Want, Willing to Trust, Maybe So

Indicud is a mixed bag for people, so I'm not surprised that you didn't like it.

    So it what it is

But to me, I think it's really great album, it has some of his best rapping imo. I think his bars were slept on this project. You might disagree, but that's where I stand with this project.

My fav album by him and its the main one i go back too

    The production is amazing too
