Let me know if you recommend the film. This album/soundtrack by itself is a vibe and underrated when I think about it. While it falls into the same issue of not being "exciting" enough like other Cudi albums I like the laid back approach on this one, the songs are all slow, emotional and ethereal which are sounds Cudi excels in. I think it has some of his best performances in recent years. It's not overly poppy and it's faithful to his original sound.

I can't imagine a Kid Cudi fan not enjoying this one. I can see maybe people who aren't big on Cudi's sound thinking this is nothing new. This is not as good as his best stuff but it gets way too overlooked. While I'd want more songs like "Entergalactic" from the first album and initially what I thought the album would sound like, what we got is a cohesive album that is supposed to match a vibe for a romantic, emotional film and it's effective for that purpose.

Quick thoughts about INSANO and INSANO (NITRO MEGA):

INSANO:

My main issue with this album is that beats and producers can't buy taste. And this just sounds like Cudi was able to link up with high level producers and guest and just made songs in poor taste that are just cringe and annoying to listen to. Even if the production is good (not always the case here) his performance and content ruins it all. Now this is probably the most positive I ever heard Cudi and I'm happy for him but I think he can still drop a good "happy" album it doesn't have to sound this generic and boring. Only keep from here is "Blue Sky" which is alright. 3/10.

INSANO (NITRO MEGA):

Naming it this way is so confusing bc I thought this was just a deluxe to INSANO and I'm sure it's the reason a lot of people didn't check it out or talk about it. Instead it's more like a LUVVTW2 situation where it's a collection of different songs that didn't get into INSANO but some of them are genuinely good and worth listening to. Including two old songs that I really enjoyed. However this is still inconsistent and has some mid. More like that a mixtape / compilation than the first one. Fav songs are: Everybody Like, Dose of Dopeness, I Just Wanna Get, Human Made. This is either 4/10 or 5/10 for me.

Both of these don't really play to Cudi's strengths and I'm not sure what he was going for with either. Makes you appreciate his mid-2010s albums actually bc they felt more creative and more like a statement.
