Yeah that’s life. Even though the people on this site want to be kids forever eventually you have to grow up. My parents moved to a different continent for a better life when they were 18. Because of that they gave me a good life. I’m not giving up on my passions or something but I’m not a kid. I’m not gonna prioritize “following my dreams” over securing a good future for me and my kids.

How old are you my guy?

If you 17-18 and you join the army then you literally just threw away your goals and dreams unless the army is your goals and dreams

You can be deployed literally at anytime

Maybe you are but most people aren’t. Everyone on this site thinks they know everything. “It’s a trap man”. Yea it’s a trap that gives me free college, free housing, free food, free healthcare, and potentially $50,000 a year (in cash and benefits) as a teenager.

And idk which job yet I’m still trying to decide.

That 50k is a deceiving number though. Only the top of the top make that right away

are u content? u like it?

I mean it’s work and it becomes tedious but you can make a career out of a trade without having to go to college.

It’s hard labor though but I’m in a better position than a lot of my friends currently enrolled in school.

But yeah sometime I do just be feeling like f*** this job. I’m in plumbing btw.

one thing that’s ironic bout many posts itt is that ppl r like it strips your freedom! your individuality is gone! ah you won’t really like what you’re doing!

not realizing that those same criticisms apply to many jobs early 20s y.o. ppl will have regardless — maybe forever depending on the field chosen.

also some of you should consider that individuality is a somewhat a marketing ploy, and for you to care so much may indicate your own embeddedness in a system that works to limit and define your own “individuality”

not saying they are invalid criticisms whatsoever, but it’d help for y’all to look at your own situations too.

thing is you don't have to finesse yourself going to college to be in debt just get your certs which go for far less via online courses through particular sites like coursera.

it's a total waste of time devoting yourself to a machine that sees you as expendable etc, do yourself a favor and put in the work instead of seeking a seemingly soluble shortcut.

“Atleast here you have your mom” this is the mentality I’m trying to break out of. No offense but that sounds like something a child would say. I appreciate my parents but one day they’ll be dead. I’m not gonna just do nothing with my life because I’m scared to be away from my mommy.

This dude finna start the path to turning into a f***ing psycho who takes it out on other people because he’s broke at 18 like a good percentage of kids lol

Dude said if his momma die f*** it we over here getting money

    😂

Dude more focused on hitting u w the spicy comeback than actually just considering what we saying as dudes 2-5 years older than him who are at the age range he’s looking to with this decision lol

bro rn ur focused on the same thing 😟 we won’t all share the same perspective on s***, but digging into him because of it isn’t gonna help anything at all except ur ego. this kinda behavior is one of the consequences of self interested thinking/the idea of propagating your own individualism

bc now even if u are somehow perfectly 100% correct n u predict his life to a T (which iono if it’d be likely), he won’t listen cus ur just ... focusing on gettin ur comebacks off

edit past the point of usefulness: i don’t say this to b mean or b like “gotcha!”, i just think that if it’s true that there’s an imperative to help someone see a perspective that they don’t currently hold, rejecting them for sayin nah is like the nice-guy way to do things. it’s an attitude shared by many many ppl (including myself, sometimes in the past, sometimes still now) and i think it damages the potentiality of people ever coming around to seeing other perspectives. there r many ideas i’ve rejected in my past that i later took up to be useful, but if my teachers would’ve just been like “lmfao frenchpress f*** off bro”, i doubt i’d reconsider myself ever just bc of how my own ego would b tryn to defend itself

you're absolutely right lol im just reciprocating bros energy

no sympathy for him being as much of a self assured d*** as he's been ITT just bc of hella people who are probably a year or few older letting him know that just saying "fuck what i ACTUALLY wanna do the next 5 years of my life because im broke and feel anxiety now at 18" just may be something to think about. like for longer than however much left u got till basic training lol.

but f*** it s*** aint my life young nigga go 4 it lol again just remember niggas told u dis

If you don’t have anything going for yourself f*** it.

I was gonna join the marines until my pops got me involved with a trade been working ever since.

The Marines are really for people with no direction. They don’t set you up for s*** except being a Marine. The Army has plenty of actual jobs to choose from.
