People said and say the same thing about African American culture in other countries when they don’t ‘get’ hip hop, jazz etc. maybe try to appreciate the music for what it is and cultural context it came from. saying stuff like this just comes across as ignorance

They’ve all got hits and great full albums for days, blissful music for the summer and winter, with great atmosphere and gripping melodies. You can hear the influence of American music, particularly Michael Jackson, but the creativity shouldn’t be solely defined by that cross-cultural interaction
