Anemoia, nostalgia for a time you never lived in or experienced, is the real sauce behind city pop imo. Idk how it taps into that feeling so well and it's not just because it utilizes old genres of music.

I don’t think that’s the sound city pop is trying to achieve. It’s got its own, pretty distinct sound to it that makes it “city pop”, shouldn’t judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree you feel me?
