This. 808's was polarizing for a moment for literally being a different genre yet it still wounded up being one of the most influencial albums of all time.
MMTBS is a great album but I don't see it having a similar level of influence or impact as years go by. Doesn't take away from it though.
Bruh I listened to 808s today and that s*** still sounds so f***ing fresh and f***ing amazing like how df.
And it was done so quick too
Kendrick didn't alienate from his origin he just saying him and everyone around can do better. With Kenny the audience looks to him to hear what he has to say, an expectation that he eventually wants to break away from in Big Stepper. That's the closest he feel most inspired by Kanye's energy
With Kanye the audience wants to know what he's up to. Pretty much Ye storytellin his life in every album, not a commentary on the outside but always centers on himself. Kanye's origin tho has always been him subverting expectations

Ye's music is so timeless. You got kids born in the late 2000's becoming huge fans of his work even though he's in his 40's and they weren't even around for the his early music.
my point was only kanye could produce gkmc/tpab tier music, 6 albums straight.
other goat artist’s work shouldnt be written off for not living up to an impossible benchmark.
saw a dumbass thread called “kendrick’s album was a non event” bro kys
seeing someone say 'nibba' makes me lose respect for them & their opinion tbh
Ain't even peep. S***, op is six, I'm sick

808s being made in such a short time and coming out as amazing as it was will never fail to impress me
i’m convinced TPAB was going to be a way more commercial sounding album (perhaps not even called TPAB) but he was opening for Kanye during the Yeezus tour at the tiem, and i’m 95% sure that he changed up his whole sound cause of that
wasn’t “i” mad poppy/rocky before he changed his whole sound?

The truth is that Kendrick says he chooses himself because he isn’t talented enough to be prolific like Kanye, Drake, etc
If he really was that good he wouldn’t take so long to release music and he would have come back with something better
one of the biggest pop songs of all time
heartless is in the top 100 best selling singles off all time think its like 60-70 range
