indian food is great, but its heavy af

Bear in mind the dishes in restaurants usually aren't the same as what people cook at home regularly. We have lighter versions for daily consumption.

    Ras Malai
    Gulab Jamun
    Kaju Barfi
    Gaajar Halwa
    Jalebi
    Ghewar

Are what I'd recommend if anyone wants to try. But some of them are VERY sweet usually unlike most American sweets and candies I've eaten.

Yeah I have a massive sweet tooth and I have to tap out after just a couple pieces of any Indian sweet

you'll be so lost on your first visit lmaoo

aite the easiest way is to get some curry and plain rice. tikka masala is the staple and will most likely be great anywhere you go. there are cheese dishes like paneer cooked in all types of ways with curry, yogurt, etc. do not miss out on non-meat options since they are a very natural part of the cuisine

then you gotta get that naan its flatbread with different toppings like garlic and herbs and whatnot. I know that ppl use it as spoons for their entire meal so you'll figure it out. for drinks just get lassi if they have it, it's good to provide some relieve from the spiciness. it's kinda like flavored yogurt

this is the most basic order you can get at probably any Indian place you go in the world. it's gonna be spicy as f*** so ask if they can do it less that (real ones dont ). it is heavy food and portions are usually small but feel more than a lot, so don't go on a full stomach. don't fall into trap of ordering one of each; it's likely you will eat a bite of everything and get full right after. one to two options with a drink and maybe naan is good enough

though I just told u to get some rice and chicken with bread it just might change your life. also I'm not an expert so I might get stuff wrong. don't hesitate to ask your waiter whats their suggestion based on spot's menu and overall don't worry about asking stuff. people are extremely friendly in these places

    thanks so much bro

My go to order at any Indian Restaurant:

    Paneer Makhani
    Lamb Biryani
    Garlic Naan
    Mango Lassi

Mango Lassi is the greatest drink ever constructed, it's pure joy, child-like wonder

im not a foodie by any means and I actually quite dislike people who make food their 'thing' bc most of the time they're just complaining about service and exposing their trash ass palette. normally it's not easy for me to talk about food even if I like it a lot; most of the time I just say s***s really good and kinda appreciate it for taste qualities. there's one exception to it, and that's Indian food and Indian cuisine in general

I don't eat it too often but whenever I do it's always an event. I can get a pizza any day of the week, it's whatever to me. but if I get to visit (or talk my partner into visiting) an Indian restaurant every once in a while it's always something special. ill chug an entire pizza disc in like 10 minutes and immediately forget about it. with Indian its always a 30 minute event where I take breaks, enjoy the spice, or eat like my life depends on it.

honestly it's the only type of food that makes me 1) wanna talk about food at all 2) makes it feel like home way it's cooked, served, and eaten. you can combo anything with anything, but each dish is somehow always distinct. there are SO MANY options in every single place out there, and I take for granted somewhat; if any other place had something along the lines of honey chili fries it would probably be the highlight of the entire menu. Indian joint would have it there next to another ten options for sides, and every single one of those will be its own amazing thing

I gotta say that the food is fairly challenging and to me the only way to eat Indian more often is to just start cooking with the right spices. thankfully I have a small Indian shop not far away from me that I always at least hit up for masala. it's crazy how I did three paragraphs without even going into dishes themselves; this s*** is the best no contender. I love Mexican, Mediterranean is good, Georgian is amazing, but Indian will always hold a special place in my heart
