im not a foodie by any means and I actually quite dislike people who make food their 'thing' bc most of the time they're just complaining about service and exposing their trash ass palette. normally it's not easy for me to talk about food even if I like it a lot; most of the time I just say s***s really good and kinda appreciate it for taste qualities. there's one exception to it, and that's Indian food and Indian cuisine in general
I don't eat it too often but whenever I do it's always an event. I can get a pizza any day of the week, it's whatever to me. but if I get to visit (or talk my partner into visiting) an Indian restaurant every once in a while it's always something special. ill chug an entire pizza disc in like 10 minutes and immediately forget about it. with Indian its always a 30 minute event where I take breaks, enjoy the spice, or eat like my life depends on it.
honestly it's the only type of food that makes me 1) wanna talk about food at all 2) makes it feel like home way it's cooked, served, and eaten. you can combo anything with anything, but each dish is somehow always distinct. there are SO MANY options in every single place out there, and I take for granted somewhat; if any other place had something along the lines of honey chili fries it would probably be the highlight of the entire menu. Indian joint would have it there next to another ten options for sides, and every single one of those will be its own amazing thing
I gotta say that the food is fairly challenging and to me the only way to eat Indian more often is to just start cooking with the right spices. thankfully I have a small Indian shop not far away from me that I always at least hit up for masala. it's crazy how I did three paragraphs without even going into dishes themselves; this s*** is the best no contender. I love Mexican, Mediterranean is good, Georgian is amazing, but Indian will always hold a special place in my heart
Portuguese food is better
