My friend suggested to me that it would have been better if the instructor indicated to students where they could see these images in their own time and place if they wanted, but to not show it in the classroom. While I don't fault the instructor for not thinking of this accommodation, it seems a somewhat fair 'compromise' so to speak.
I brought up to her how I thought this was comparable to people not wanting Toni Morrison novels taught, especially in high school, because the material conflicted with their moral values. But she thought that novels were different from artwork. Maybe it is. Perhaps it is easier to talk about literature dealing in controversial themes compared to imagery? I'm not sure I agree but it's possible.
Second discourse is very interesting but we are not banning depictions of Muhammed (PBUH) due to disapproval but of approval to wishes
yep, because Muslim = religious extremism
wanting religious beliefs to be respected = religious extremism
that’s why just skimming your religion’s central text and half assing church visits doesn’t count as a “””background””” to me, because niggas like you dump their religion and go full on enlightened atheist
Spittin itt
Nah firing her was too much honestly. Maybe a suspension?

Call me ignorant I'll hold that but I honestly didn't know Muslims were still getting upset over images of the prophet Muhammad
As a Muslim my first question is was she ignorant that you couldn’t draw him?
I can’t say we should expect non Muslims to know that even with past controversies
It isn’t fair to them and not exactly within their learning spheres.
If she did know and chose to do it anyway, that’s openly pretty offensive so yes she deserves it

There’s no still, it’s not a recent thing. It’s always been forbidden in the religion

Yes because she gave her students forewarning which is an admission of guilt IMO
The argument is whether the forewarning absolves her of wrongness
