    UK punk in the 70s and 80s was on a whole other level with lyrics, experimentation and basically everything related to lifestyle

    Yeah for sure but you have hardcore punk bands like Minor Threat who are in a league of their own. Hard to say, haven’t listened to enough early UK punk bands to make the call.

    Simply put no other country can compete.

    plus the pistols have the two most iconic punk songs: god save the Queen and anarchy in the uk

    suicide, dead dennedys, suicidal tendencies and bad brains are all up there, but the uk scenes was eclectic than the American ones. Punk, unlike rock, was about politics and questioning societal norms of that time; it was protest music conceived against the state. these elements disappear in the us scene, except for a handful of bands

    Those whole west coast scene in the US during the late 70s was protest culture. Thats the whole essence of the DIY movement
