I’m genuinely confused when Drake fans talk about his writing like this. It has me questioning if yall actually listen to music other than Drake

I like Drake, I’m not trying to hate but he seriously conveys all this stuff y’all call “deep and vulnerable” in the most basic/surface level way possible

Die Trying is the closest we’re gonna get to drake being like “yeah i’m putting up a front with this lifestyle I’m living”

cause I gotta be #thatguy this album in a way validates a lot of things ( not that verse) from #mtg mainly the 2nd verse

I really wanna know how he really feels about his pops. Might be the most hot and cold relationship I’ve seen in a minute. That 1st verse when you first listen is like “ whoa.”

Listen to look what you’ve done and you’ll learn how he really feels abt his dad

    There’s a lot to it

The criticism of him parading his dad around to show everyone he’s black or whatever definitely has something to do with their relationship

Nobody actually knows the real nature of the relationship but Drake making a song about bringing his dad into his life (even tho he’s a pos) to feel more of a connection with black culture would be more honest and vulnerable then anything he’s done in a decade

Not saying any of that is true but songs like that are what I’m talking about when I say this is deep and vulnerable

Are you all f***ing mentally wetarded

HE BRINGS HIS DAD AROUND BECAUSE HES HIS F***ING DAD

sometimes I really think you all are f***ing braindead

nothing about drake can be under critique I get it but there is something to be said about a relationship where drake has publicly praised him (e.g. paris morton, from time) and kinda (imo, justifiably) s*** on him (e.g. 0 to 100, look what you done, and die trying) and they've both had their tiffs (his dad claiming drake was capping about him not being in his life)

so a relationship like that is gonna obviously inspire folks to be like "hmm, do they really get along?

Drake doesn't need to directly spell things out for you to infer what he means about certain things. He addressed the last 9 months in a myriad of ways on this album. He spoke on needing multiple people around him because of weirdos who have been trying to f*** with him for clout. He spoke on the hate he's experienced in the past year being confusing to him. He spoke on people going to desperate lengths to destroy his name just to get him outta here.

Maybe he digs even deeper into that on his next album but he definitely doesn't need to. It's not something that's hard to understand or take note of. He's gone through a lot mentally and emotionally the last 9 months and he doesn't hide or shy away from that.

I don't understand why some of you have this weird fantasy of Drake coming out and saying his entire lifestyle is fake. It isn't. He's admitted as much throughout his entire career.

He goes through s*** like anybody else does and he puts it in the music all the time. Yes, he went through s*** in the last year but it's not bad enough for him to act like his life is over. Him still out having fun and looking happy doesn't mean that he's faking it to keep up appearances. Two things can be true at the same time.

And he's spoken enough about his father in his music and in interviews for anyone who has paid attention to have a good grasp on the nature of their relationship.

This line of thinking is stupid. Why would he need to parade his father around to validate his blackness? He IS black. He identifies as a black man and he always has. Whether anyone accepts that or not is their business.

If you are a Drake fan like you claim, you're aware of the history of their relationship because Drake has always rapped about his father from as early as 2006 on Room for Improvement.

Idk why no one touches on the revealing line about him and his dad.. it’s the closest I’ve ever heard him come to acknowledging what everyone seems so desperate for him to acknowledge: that his lifestyle maaaay be empty. Or the issues he probably has when his dad’s been lacing him with that perspective on women for his entire life

I do appreciate that he's trying to make little advances.

I'm just not gonna pat him on the ass for it after making mostly empty substance or similar substance for a looong time.

  • Feb 25, 2025

Interesting perspective. I definitely do hear it now.

The song is so poppy I never caught it but yes now that I’m listening it is very interesting

I think people don’t really care what Drake does anymore, I think most people are just over him

Fr, but that’s classic .. to contrast the lyrics and music. And I feel that, I think people are just fatigued.. hearing one voice prominently for a decade plus is a lot.
