    Yes.

  • Eminem is one of the most successful, respected rappers in history. There is nothing ktt can do to debate this your favorite rapper would say the same. Not as amazing as he was most agree on but still doing the type of numbers hes doing almost 30 years later is astounding.

  • He ran s*** for a long time, he got some classics and he influenced a lot of people. I don't really see why he shouldn't be mentioned as someone important in the genre.
And that's coming from someone who never really listened to his s*** and I haven't even heard his last 3-4 albums. But you can't ignore his past just because his recent content has been bad.

    Slim Shady Lp
    Mmlp
    Em Show
    8 mile soundtrack
    8 mile movie
    Bad Meets Evil
    Devils Night

    All classics

Helped write 2001, classic collabs, classic freestyles classic songs.
Came up battle rapping, participated in competition and made a name of him self. Helped bring up dozens of artists.

Came back and released Relapse, Recovery, Kamikaze which are are good/great but won't ever get recognition because there was a new era and Em was lookedupon as old.

Let's face it, what this man has done is exactly why he will NEVER be consider overrated. He's actually done it all Unlike alot of top tier rappers. He night not be as great today but his consistency and what he's done will forever put him as one of the greatests.

Let go of the color my man, let it go.

I don’t hate him because he’s white at all? Why do you think that? I even said I consider his first 3 albums classic I just don’t think he has had a big influence on today’s rap like everyone says he has so I think he is over rated

  • Jan 15, 2022

I think Jay is perfectly rated and I could see how some people think 2pac is overrated too and I kinda agree to an extent

His white fans overrate him sure but of all time? I’d give it to Pac or Jay

    Garbage

  • Jan 15, 2022

    Easily

Over 70% of his catalog is trash at this point
“Had a spark when he started but now he’s just garbage”

  • Jan 15, 2022

Yeah but we didn't need this thread

  • Jan 15, 2022

if anything he's underrated these days considering he has like two bad albums in his discography (encore and revival) and a bunch of mediocre ones that still have their fair share of great songs on them. plenty of rappers get by with worse hit to miss ratios, i don't see why eminem deserves to be raked over the coals for it just because a bunch of self hating white kids are embarrassed they used to only listen to him.

What does influence has to do with anything? Just because Eminems content doesn't speak to everyone doesn't make it less great.

And btw, influence is one of the most stupid s*** to cite considering labels are the ones trying to recreate big artists and control the sound

    SHAQUILLE

I mean Drake, Kendrick, Cole, and Nicki have all cited eminem as an influence at one point or another. He also influenced Kanye on the producer side of things.

    literally

love him or hate him eminem has influenced a good 85% of the biggest rappers to an extent

    Ghetto Techno?

  • Jan 15, 2022

    He's properly rated

Hyped to the high heavens by non rap fans and people overseas.

But underrated by younger rap fans, critics, and hipsters.

He's done enough to be a legend and top 10 DOA though.

Classics 20 years ago doesn’t equate to current success

tbh his bad albums get panned by many people so I wouldn't say that. In fact, his classics get a bit of unfair shat because of the trash he released afterwards imo. If we're going by sales he's definitely overrated tho.

  • Jan 15, 2022

i think a lot of it has to do with time. a lot of kids and younger adults these days weren’t even around or conscience enough to really remember his run (even 20-21 year olds are too young to remember imo - 8 mile came out in 2002)

he’s definitely legendary and cemented in hip hop history

now he just raps for fun and because he likes to do it. i don’t think todays demographic (young people) are his target audience anyway

i’m not a huge em fan (anymore) but i don’t hate the guy at all.

  • Jan 15, 2022

    Short answer ? Yes

    Long answer ? Absolutely yes

Still goated for being the only white rapper besides jack harlow

  • Jan 15, 2022

I want to say no, but given the fact that almost none of his albums we call classics hold up if you weren’t, like, 12 when they came out….

  • CrippledGod

    Ghetto Techno?

    blueprint 3 entirely

  • Jan 15, 2022

No that would be Kendrick Lamar or playboi Carti.
