His commercial success and his wordplay are properly rated
His music is overrated, a ton of it sounds super dated, relies really heavily on shock value (mostly relating to abusing women) and pop culture references, every single album has s***ty songs even the universal classics, has several terrible, terrible albums.
His fanbase is also really lame, usually I wouldn’t count this against an artist bc it’s not their fault but Eminem always played up the victim complex, it’s the white boy that said it themed persona that dominates how his fanbase perceives/talks about him so I think it’s more relevant for him than other artists
His influence is kinda properly rated, I don’t think he really changed rap outside of a few artists but he is (for better or for worse) definitely a cultural icon in hip hop who will always receieve respect because of the role he played and the success he achieved
examples when he was at his best - had he stayed doing s*** like this, he’d be A LOT less big but probably more respected
If current rap is lead by Kanye and Drake, I don't think that Eminem is overrated in a slightest. He is a rapper after all.
I don't think anyone really regards him as a top artist today so I don't think he's really overrated. He's deservedly considered a top Rap act of all time because he ruled a generation with Wayne/Jay-Z/eventually Kanye/etc. and defined at least a pocket of the genre for over a decade. No one is calling his current s*** amazing, so I think he's fairly rated for what he is now.
His first three albums are classics I will not argue that at all
But current rap isn’t dedicated to much to him and every rapper that has em has a huge influence on is ass
Chief keef has had a bigger impact on current rap than Eminem has
He ain’t got no classics
He is technically the most overrated rapper but that’s because a large part of his fan base only know rap through him
If KTT posted their top 10s, I'm guessing Eminem isn't in a lot of them. A lot worse rappers would be. If we're talking about them being rappers and not just making good music- different things.
On a side note, Eminem and Wayne are probably the most successful rappers who still rap like their lives depend on it.
Even when they put out mid, they still were spitting like crazy to the detriment of the quality of their music or albums.
I sampled your thread, you was using it wrong. You had a couple of replies, I made it a hot trend

Helped write 2001, classic collabs, classic freestyles classic songs.
Came up battle rapping, participated in competition and made a name of him self. Helped bring up dozens of artists.
Came back and released Relapse, Recovery, Kamikaze which are are good/great but won't ever get recognition because there was a new era and Em was lookedupon as old.
Let's face it, what this man has done is exactly why he will NEVER be consider overrated. He's actually done it all Unlike alot of top tier rappers. He night not be as great today but his consistency and what he's done will forever put him as one of the greatests.
Let go of the color my man, let it go.
