like i said, nothing in the last 10 years. I know hes a legend and pioneer, thats without question!
nobody able to afford him isnt true, look how bad this video is
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tk2K_PSPshsthis video is weak as f***
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ynm4H8IyhYbeing able to afford hype williams doing a video for you =/= being able to afford the budget that is likely needed to achieve same quality of lighting/equipment/locations/less reliance on graphics that Hype Williams had in his prime
His videos after All of The Lights all have that same look like they were done exclusively with green screen/studios/excessive graphics...that Griselda vid looks just like finna get loose by diddy
thats what i mean by not being able to afford. budgets got smaller and now he only do videos with too many graphics or in a studio space
vs. the Nas/Mobb Deep/etc. videos in this thread where the lighting and locations were the main thing that made the videos special. labels were willing to drop a couple hundred thousand to fly you to different places, and pay for whatever equipment Hype needed im assuming
post-2010 its enough to just say u got a hype williams video regardless of how it actually looks...also no one on their team probably stops and a***yzes s*** like this this deep
Hype probably one of those “film or nothing”type dudes,I wouldn’t be surprised. Also,I remember reading something about him retiring in the early 10’s cause music just didn’t inspire him anymore.
yep
i'd imagine its hard to get video concepts that inspire you beyond spamming graphics + studio space shots when everyone sounds and looks the exact same...
I hate how he just quit being a movie director because of his bad experience with Belly. I truly believe Hype would’ve made one really great movie using his style and it would’ve probably been something we’ve never seen before in cinema.
s***s sad and i hope he makes a return to cinema as he gets older
if he kept making films through the past 20 years since belly he'd probably be amazing right now as far as the flaws belly had
imagine a hype williams comic book movie or i'd even take more generic crime films from Hype
he had a couple other movies he was supposed to make but nothing happened

ill agree on that
i just feel like as a creative you should be able to make quality at any budget just off the creativity in your mind. his videos feel stale and out dated over the last decade, like he lost that spark and is out of ideas
and thats ok because he has such a legendary run from the 90s-early 00s that he doesnt need anything more to cement his legacy. just feels like hes washed up to me
i would like to see what he can do with some big budget again, maybe that kanye angelz video will be that
spike jonze is my favorite all time i think
look what he just did last year
essetially a anderson paak video starring FKA twigs but an apple Ad

think that spawned the song cant tell me nothing. same producer
Yea without a doubt. The only truly great music video director.
David Fincher exists
He's top 5 behind David Meyers, Spike Jonze , Kanye West, and Cole Bennett
You had me in the first half ngl

Man,I’m not gonna lie to you, when I first saw that Gotham City video,I always imagined a black Batman movie with Hype Williams directing. I’m talking an actual licensed Batman movie about a black Batman fighting crime in the ghetto.
Imagine the aesthetics of that video used on the big screen except with a $100 mill budget, would’ve been insane. The premise would’ve also been something totally new for superhero movies.
I typed in "hype williams" and got this:
It’s a shame you don’t know one of the best music video directors of all time
His videos are the embodiment of what big budget mainstream videos should be
This guy gets it
David Fincher exists
He's a GOAT director who's happened to make some good music videos.
My initial post was obviously too much of a blanket statement but I still can't think of another director outside of Hype who's actually made a career out of pushing the format of music videos instead of just dabbling in them.
like this nigga invented this style
thats f***ing crazy to me
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKe79ceHjtEThe whole next decade ppl were ripping it off
