Peep the new Mach-Hommy, Roc Marciano, & Gangrene albums.
Good rec on Gangrene, I'll check that out
Mach killed it and Roc definitely did his thing this year
what is the current wave then? (not talking about the rap beef)
there isnt one definitive wave rn. tap into regional sounds like milwaukee lowend or dark plugg out of the dmv or the sample wave coming out of nyc.
I will say though: more Ludacris and Missy Elliott type rappers are always welcome
I swear some of y'all dont even like music, its all about being caught up in some cultural "moment" that probably ain't got nothin to do with you. thats just hypebeasting with additional steps.
ppl put people onto smaller rap artists bc this is a rap discussion forum and it's generally agreed upon that we all like hiphop
No idea what you’re getting at. We all like indie artists. I’m talking about hip hops place in culture and moving the needle. Whether you like it or not hip hop has always been a young man’s game, influenced pop culture and gives cultural moments. That’s why hip hop is separated from “rap music” in the first place, because it’s bigger than just rapping.
I can listen to someone rhyme over a beat all day. That’s not the end all be all to hip hop. The fun came from breaking down lyrics with friends, trading stories of rappers, discussing beefs and who’s better.
Did you start listening in college or something?
Benny the Butcher's Collective. A new bread of rappers like Rick Hyde , Heem, Struggle Mike , Elcamino, Sule, Duckman, Fuego Base, E Murda, Vino La Mano, OT The Real , B.A.R.S Murre

How long has this been a thing and is there a page or thread for keeping up with the whole collective?
What are some of your favorite artists and projects? Looking for a start point

yall always give the same stupid answers. not able to discuss anything on a deeper level.
yes hip hop is in a bad state when the same heroes from 2011 are still ruling. all these Gunnas, Wunnas, Lil Babies just aren't exciting at all. And the 2017 Migos/Thugger/Lil Uzi wave sadly didn't manage to stay relevant.
Bro you just need to dig deeper underground and you have two options:
The worst auto tuned sexual assaulter you ever heard with zero charisma rapping over disorienting, ear grating schizo beats or artsy monotone underground guy with zero charisma or energy dropping esoteric mystery bars over boring drumless loops
If you don’t enjoy these options then you just don’t like music. Simple as
