Chill beats to study/relax to is the new classical music

Definitely. You can get a ‘more sophisticated’ taste in just about any subject/variety the more you try to learn about it (from various perspectives). So for music, imo listening to multiple genres and eras or becoming familiar w different instruments and how the music making process works or seeing live performances etc. the more engagement the better

I don’t agree that jazz or metal or one particular genre is more sophisticated than the other. Being able to appreciate the merits of both is ideal. Simply put, I think the more you listen to a style you don’t initially like the more your brain will be conditioned to enjoy it. Of course, some people will ask (as I’ve seen posted here before) ‘why FORCE yourself to like this’ and my answer would be 1 force isn’t the right word 2 because I like to experience new things

  • I listen to jazz, and I mainly only listen to hip hop, blues eyed rock, alternative and r&b.

    Some of my favorites are:

    Coltrane
    Chet baker
    Boney James

If you fw this I got a lot for you, pure mood and vibe music my boy

none of those correlations you mentioned are true. any study that claims they are has some kinda sampling bias
