Biggest cultural impact of any album in the last decade so I'd say its a classic regardless of your personal opinion of it
its one of the last albums that really was a moment as a whole album. the spectacle. the hidden features. everyone remembers their first listen. 100% a classic
It's a good album, not great. I feel like the events surrounding the album were more interesting than the album itself. I still bump Astrothunder and RIP Screw tho
i’ll always think of it as a classic era but the album doesn’t stack up to rodeo in terms of replay-ability besides 6-8 tracks
some of trav’s best work on there but not enough long-standing impact or influence to be a classic album
i’d push for the classic status just out of spite towards all the contrarian plebs who try to act like birds is better tho lmao

this kind of take makes me think twice about mine ngl^
that first listen was a moment

Since it’s release? Possibly
Since a decade ago? (2013)
Yeezus, TPAB, Views, Rodeo, could all arguably be above AW tbh and that’s just off the top of my head
I guess but the music is not that good
If the music is not good how is it a classic?

I swear, you perfectly described how I felt about Tha Carter 3 when it came out in June of 2008, lol

dawg travis scott is f***ing travis scott. birds had goosebumps, and everyone was anticipating astroworld. the way he built up hype was so cool. on dark knight dummo (a hit) "astroworld, my planet, my home", he performed a 1 min snippet of stargazing at rolling loud, all of his loosies were heat (green&purple, a man, WATCH and ofc butterfly effect), there was 2 years between albums, travis is with kylie, hes just really that dude especially with some cool features here and there (culture, trippie, fingers blue, etc)
he was just that guy and the hype was huge. the features were HIDDEN so it truly was an immersive and surprising first listen. akademiks sicko mode meme super viral. everyone was on the album. then theres the iconic tour (not the fest), the doc which was very good, the legacy of the theme park, theres just so many elements that made it special!
It was a moment but looking at the tracklist there is almost no song I still wanna play
