And over 10 minutes of just thanking people on an album that's 65 minutes long That's like 25% worth of s*** I never want to come back to, literally a quarter of this album is bad.

It’d be like the director of a film abruptly ending the film and then recording voice over of him reading the closing credits

    What

By 2010 He already SFG, Every Girl, Best I Ever Had, Successful, which were all top 5 hits on Billboard as well as What's My Name with Rihanna.

Quit the cap lol there was never a time where Wiz and Drake were on the same level popularity wise.

Drake Cole Kendrick, Big Sean even, all should get a lot of credit to varying degrees for not flopping as protégés and taking this s*** over a decade in

Prior to them, that rarely happened

To be under a massive umbrella of a lil Wayne, Jay z, Kanye west, and not flop, put out multiple number 1 albums, massive records, arena tours, and to still be relevant over a decade in says a lot about that group.

OP is wrong though Cole definitely and obviously wasn’t the first

    Nicki too

Wayne found pretty much a perfect male and female counterpart while still beinf extremely popular himself and they totally surpassed expectations

wonder if we’ll ever see anything like that again

    LOL WHAT?

That's not revisionist history I was outside in 2010.
    Every Girl was already out
    Bedrock was already out
Best I ever had was already out
    Successful was already out
What's My Name came out in 2010.
ALL OF THOSE WERE SMASHES FOR DRAKE lol come on bro. Facts only. Wiz had a buzz in 2010 but it wasn't on Drkae's level. He did 500K first week on a debut man.

I mean it's a personal thing with Nicki. I just never really liked her as a rapper. Even back then, I didn't.

But she 100% was a Wayne protege and someone who not only lived up to Wayne's stature but quite honestly surpassed it. Proteges do not become megastars, and she did.

TBH this applies to all of the Big 3 and it kinda applies to Big Sean too. Or does it? May explain peoples hesitancy to put him up there

he didn’t fully commit to being the top Nigga in a lane a la the mainstream guy (Drake) the artsy guy (Kendrick) or the backpacker (Cole)

Black & Yellow was way bigger than all of those except What’s My Name & Best I Ever Had and still was bigger than those 2 just not way bigger.

I think it applies to Sean.

He carried GOOD Music on a mainstream level, and gave Ye hits for a decade. Detroit 2 was a #1 album and that came out on Good Music.

In what world was Black and Yellow bigger than Bedrock or BIEH alone lol

I vividly remember that era it’s weird to even to try and put wiz vs Drake two completely different lanes and intros into the game

Wiz had niggas wanting to emulate a lifestyle and Drake had the “substance” and relatability (to people under 25 at the time) and also 2008-09 Wayne co-sign into Forever with Ye Em Wayne made him nuclear

He had Black and Yellow. Sure

Drake had like 6,7 records in the same year that were almost, if not bigger than Black and Yellow.

I was there man. The nigga who had multiple smashes was the bigger more poppin act.

When was Bedrock referenced every other evening on SportsCenter I missed that era. And yes they are two different lanes but both were looked at as part of that new class. I’m just really ITT playing super devils advocate tho because Drake slipped my mind when I made the thread

To me it’s like LeBron, KD, Steph

and then Sean is like Dame lol. Moments of greatness and high level of talent but never quite reached that next level thus far

Greatest hip hop class of all time. Won’t see that many up and comers making an impact at the same time like that again for a while if ever. Also made the “middle class” of the game so much stronger.

I wouldn't disagree. But Dame is like a first ballot HOF'er who's like 6x All NBA and a 6x All Star.

My whole point tbh was to give Sean his just do lol it's like because he's not Cole / Drake / Kendrick no one wants to mention what he's done. He made an impact.
