How are people so ed that the concept of overpopulation eludes them, despite several real world instances of overpopulation making society hell and NATURE itself proving that overpopulation is real?

Why don’t you explain it to us?

Earths resources are limited and the life styles a lot of us live are not sustainable, more people=more consumption..

Anyway. I don't know all the facts or solutions but if you want to help as an individual: buy locally and attempt that calculator for a little insight and follow up on what you can. or believe achievable, anything helps. Cheers :)

    yeah

9.1 million people die of starvation every year while we waste 1.3 billion tonnes of food each year

An ecosystem has a population cap before resources cannot be replaced fast enough as they're used. There's a Max capacity before competition is to high, then a catastrophic crash where things die until it's leveled out again.

Even cows and birds know to rotate their location and allow the environment time to recuperate from their presence. They don't all just start growing out and growing out and growing out until they've covered every inch in the area. There'd be nothing left.

The earth itself is an ecosystem. Things that we use, like crude oil, are not easily replaced. It takes millions of years. Space on land is finite and the remote locations are difficult to populate. All the popular places where billions of people live, like some places in China and India, are extremely disgusting.

Humans are perforating at a rate of close to 1 billion per decade. No other creature with as big an impact on the environment has anything near this level of success. To meet the damands, more food and other resources have to be made and used. This not only damages the earth but pulls out valuable, sustaining resources.

People say "well there's so much unused land". Where? A remote mountain? The world is mostly ocean. Unused land is unused for a reason, but if we force it to be inhospitable and destroy the nature around us for a place to live, we will just end up ruining the diversity and balance required to keep that ecosystem in shape, which will end up making it inhospitable for us. Diversity = health. Too much of one thing uses all of the same resources.

it is a problem today we are using our resources too quickly it isn't about not enough land mass lmaoo but thru technology we will be able to lift the burden of overpopulation if we fund the right things and take our environment and resources more seriously

The irony of them tweeting that s*** thru an iPhone prolly look I agree that if we all lived self sustaining and had our own crops and livestock then yes overpopulation is indeed a myth and many more could fit here. But we all live the way we do and take the conveniences in life so overpopulation is an issue. Were never going to switch up the way we live either, therefore we need to really hone in and a***yze our future with that fact. The way we ALL live will be the reason why wars will break out over fresh water in 30 yrs.

Not that ironic considering it’s virtually impossible to avoid consumption of goods like technology. I get it’s a meme at this point to like s*** on anyone who speaks out against capitalism but acting like you should become some primitivism is also a weirdo take

Let’s be real, people tryna misconstrue the tweet by focusing on the overpopulation piece and not the fact that it basically was making a point saying that overpopulation isn’t really as much of a current threat as capitalism is to our well-being.

I get that it’s formulated poorly but if you gonna hyper focus on one portion of the tweet, you’re no better than the original tweet lol

I agree That capitalism is the root of most evils in our society in America. what I’m saying is overpopulation will be and currently is an issue for us bc of our consumption rate. I think The best future for all of us would be to incorporate more smaller living i.e growing our own vegetables and utilizing more of the resources that are on the physical earth around us. We have 30 million people crammed into small cities which is creating too much population in these areas. if more people spread out it will ease our problem alittle bit but 330million is still a f*** ton of ppl. To say overpopulation is a “myth” tho is a bit incorrect.

The myth is that we'll somehow breed ourselves out of existence because of lack of resources when really the problem is how those resources are distributed

You calling the person op dumb when you don't even realize we could fit every human being in texas

    https://overpopulationisamyth.com/episode-1-overpopulation-the-making-of-a-myth/

Yea this is still wild to me

I heard we basically won’t exceed like 11 billion people or something

you people are just as bad as you trash anti vaxxers

overpopulation being a myth cause u can fit people in one place is crazy

  • In Environmental Science they teach sustainability because at some point, if we use more resources than we can renew, s*** goes south. And the more the population grows, the more this becomes inevitable. So no it's not a myth
