its good music who cares about the fanbase thats just insecurity on your part
also no s*** its not complex dnb - its pop music at its core ofc its gonna be watered down from more serious dnb. but she's working w some top level electronic producers like Mura Masa and potentially Vegyn and Kaytranada so idk how fair it is to say its lowbrow
tiktok as a whole is good for music - an artist like her would've really struggled without a platform like tiktok and I fully expect to see more great artists like her come from the platform as it matures
i disagree with that first piece, half-heartedly. if an artist has a s***ty fanbase you're likely not going to want to see them live as often as if they didn't, though that's more basis to basis anyways.
also how do you feel like tiktok as a whole is good for music? i think it serves as a great gateway towards more niche genres and does shine a spotlight on acts from yesteryear but most of the new content coming out of it feels entirely too derivative.
@eversince @Drain_Cook did you listen to android of heart by camellia before?

that’s fair
In terms of tiktok being good for music I think that it’s significantly less prone to manipulation and odds being stacked in established users favor
Sure sounds get planted and you can pay for promo but paid posts are tagged as promotion clearly
The biggest thing is the algorithm basically shows your content to a random group of users and gauges how engaging it is based on that. If it’s engaging it gets shown to a wider audience. And so on. Because of this, if your content is good enough it will succeed on tiktok so smaller artists can actually blow up without needing followers to have that level of exposure
It does lead to derivative music because derivative music is engaging. But because you have so many different niches on tiktok it also lets music like this succeed and plenty of other unique music just not at a fully mainstream level
Carti should make a dnb jungle house album but have a dj curate it
would be crazy
idk how i feel abt carti on dnb but im sure he'd make it work, he's talented enough

IKR! It would fit carti style so much I always felt like die lit was an album made for DJ’s and dnb is a dj prominent genre use carti limited lyrical style as a tool for these instrumentals it would be so good

i love how he layers his adlibs and makes his stuff so rhythmic. i think that would work rlly well w dnb

Same tbh I just say her because of the pop sensibilities
@eversince @Drain_Cook did you listen to android of heart by camellia before?
no, but it has been sitting in my library for a good minute.
edit: seems like I have listened to a bit of camellia.
there's 3 camellia albums I added to my library months ago
Agreed, just getting plant vibes from her (not that it's a big deal)
industry plants make better music
ive never heard her on tiktok but pain, passion, and the new one are masterpieces. She’d blow up anywhere.
I think we’ll start hearing major artists imitate her sound in the near future too

i definitely agree w u on this, her comeup is nowhere near as natural as we think lol. I am proud to say i was one of the few who got her very first snippet recommended to them on tiktok way before she became super popular

Nope but I’m def gonna check them out vocaloid looks so f***ing cool I crazy that someone used that for an album I’m excited as hell
But yeah, hopefully this trend could influence jungle/d&b & UK garage scenes for the better by crossing over to America and not just for gatekeeping sakes.
