I think, for the most part, it’s remembered as a good- not great- movie that has an elevated level of cultural significance, and I think that is totally fair.

Soundtrack might have been great but the sound effects were crap, cheese ambient synths meant to mask the s***ty dialogs and acting.

If everyone knows something and it has such a great popularity, that obviously erases the possibility of a cult following
