I think this. I think just the way the brand has gone hand in hand with reselling+social media and certain people that have been seen wearing it over the years has created this notion of it being "corny".

I think Off-White was (is?) perhaps in danger of going the same route.

Weirdly enough I avoided wearing my old ass camp hat for awhile because I thought supreme was corny now but people really seem to like it after I wore it the other day
