I understand it is in our nature to be competitive. But lettuce be cereal we as humans did not get this far by not cooperating with each other. Humans came together to become king of the jungle, we should all aspire to help each other not f*** each other.

Why u think there's an uptick in philosophy and values held without religion.

It's bullshit that you need religion to be a happy and good person and I personally find that s*** offensive.

Atheists are more depressed tho, this is a fact. More religious countries have lower suicide and depression rates

    Fantasy

    🤣🤣🤣

It has nothing to do with the fact that the cost of living has skyrocketed while the money people earn stays the same, right?

Or that out-of-touch billionaires run the country and do what’s best for them and their friends, right?

    Nah it’s religion b 😂😂😂

You realize economic disparity and a widening income gap has been a constant problem throughout all of human history, right? If that has always been the case, why would that be the reason for rising depression and suicide rates now?

My point is there is no reason to think the economic disparity now is uniquely more depressing than it was in any time in human history. The depression and suicide rate has been steadily increasing is recent years tho, and I’m certain it’s not only because of economic issues, especially because many countries who are prospering economically still have rising rates of suicide.

Bruh why are you only talking about medieval s***. I’m talking about even just 40 years ago. Why do you think people in the west commit suicide more than niggas in Africa or the Middle East, even though westerners have a FAR higher living standard? It’s almost like economic prosperity doesn’t necessarily correlate with feeling fulfilled in life.

It's down to cultural differences that can be explained outside the confines of organized religion.

Believe what you want to believe

Believing in God or not believing in God doesn’t make you a good or bad person

I’m African, and I can guarantee you that nearly all of the things our culture emphasizes come from religion. You can even see it in America: religion is a huge part of black american society and culture and blacks have a lower suicide rate than whites, who make up the far majority of the atheists in this country. Why else would whites have a higher suicide rate than any other group in the country, despite having the highest standard of living? It’s because economic prosperity doesn’t really give you fulfillment in life, having something to believe in and something to keep you going does.

Religion is a way to create a strong sense of community but it is not the only way. Community is what gives people joy, hope, and peace.

I think in the end we mostly agree I just don't believe religion is necessary in creating that community.

I guess your right, but I feel like if there was something else capable of creating as strong a community like religion can, the western world would have found it by now.
