It is not, but there are some individuals who choose to put energy towards using the word when it is easier not to

People had been finding ways to say the exact same thing anyway. Like "ed," or "smoothbrain" which comes from a medical condition where the brain's malformed

should get said more, kinda like the word ‘idiot’ which originally preceded the word in medical terminology, it became desensitised through common use. The r word was well on track to be in idiot territory until the pushback happened a few years back

not a bad word unless you actually think of mentally challenged people when using it which I don't think anyone really does anymore

anybody freaking out about it looks crazy at this point

  • May 12, 2022

    It’s just locker room talk

  • May 12, 2022

i choose not to say it though unless i’m with my friends or i get annoyed by myself

  • May 12, 2022

Haven't said it in years. Feels weird/wrong to say now.

i'd never freak out when i heard people say it, it's just easy not to say so i guess i don't

seems like an actual resurgence of it lately tho among a crowd that typically wouldn't be saying it a couple years ago to me (esoteric hoes)
just thought it was interesting & if anything shifted in culture to cause a more relaxed vocab or w/e

seems like perspective on this kinda reflects who you hang out with

none of my straight friends would use that word either

  • May 12, 2022

noticed the same thing in my personal life too lol

  • May 12, 2022

Tbh it never left. People just don't say it on open forums like Twitter.

I thought 'ed' came from 'special ed' but it's because the site only censors the noun, all that's left is the ed

I've noticed it being used more too and tbh knowing how much it upsets people with disabilities it bothers me

No strong opinion but the resurgence is probably largely due to Wall Street bets.

I will say that the Black Eyed Peas song is never not funny though
