24K Magic and AML are both blatantly ripping off older music tho
So this just comes down to one style being “cooler” than the other, going back to what I said about this being more of a tone thing rather than an originality thing
Beyonce ain even a Legend yet and she been fighting damn near 25 years to sit at the table, yet y’all already trying to nominate Weeknd?🥴
And yeah, Bruno may be unoriginal and conventional but lbr y’all hate him more for his lighthearted tone than his lack of originality now that I think about it
He f***ed up keeping his cokehead f***ing models tales to himself tbh

anybody sayin beyonce not a legend either older than 50 or doesn’t pay attention to modern artists
nah he not on bruno level when it comes to performing
Yea but I feel like overall The Weeknd is a higher definition version of what Bruno Mars was doing. Same vibes just a little more "urban/retro"

Huh
Who isn’t calling Beyoncé a legend
Look at the way casuals are s*** talking the halftime performance. Abel definitely isn't viewed as a legend in the mainstream and is only just beginning to get critical acclaim with After Hours. Abel is great but I don't think he gets the respect he deserves for what he brings to music. One of the better examples of underground aesthetics and subject matter reaching the mainstream and that's very important.
In some circles he's definitely viewed as a legend though and I think that will be more common over time.

Blinding Lights and Cant Feel My Face “blatantly rip off older music” as well, just with less inspiration
He has reached legendary status to be honest.
Not comparable to MJ or Prince but 20 years from now there will be a good amount of people arguing that The Weeknd & Drake > MJ and Prince.
Are yall rlly acting like this man weeknd doesnt call up max martin for another soulless synthpop rehash every time he wants a radio single

He hasn't brought anything to music that hasn't been done. He just revamps old sounds.
