russianbot23Do these discrepancies not line up with crime rates? Have you considered the possibility that black Americans are committing more crimes relative to their proportion of the population? More crimes = more interactions with police = increased likelihood of being killed by police.
Obviously there are a lot of factors behind the crime rates and crime alone doesn’t justify police killings, but when the numbers are put into context they don’t stand out as evidence of systemic racism.
You gotta ask yourself WHY people are committing more crimes.
People who make illegal activity a lifestyle more often than not do out of desperation or being raised in a desperate community regardless of race. All over the world the poorest people commit the most crimes. No matter what country or ethnicity. In America we have a class system traditionally and largely based on race therefore a larger percentage blacks vs other groups are born into poverty or near the poverty line thus making commitment of crime higher.

I think we’re arguing different points. I’m focused on systemic racism in the police force, which is the main narrative that the media has been pushing and the basis for the BLM movement. I don’t think that police over-policing high crime areas is an example of that.
I’m not denying that there are aspects of the larger American system that are racist. However I don’t think that those aspects are a priority to the media, and thus go unmentioned while BLM drives all of the attention toward misleading statistics.
Even if there is no proven system of racism in the police force as a whole is one thing. What the media gets right or wrong is also a separate issue. Why would anyone believe the media idk. But the truth is america is a country who has not truly rehabilitated and detoxed off of racism. American society is still shaped by it. The police that make up the police force are from that same society. And if there was job that racist americans could get that would essentially give them licenses to punish and kill the race they hate...wouldn't it be the police? And haven't the police been used in the past to exercise the power of an outwardly racist american government? If there is any job where i NEED someone to not be racist its in law enforcement lol. Now to say every cop is bad is wrong matter of fact ive had mostly great experiences with cops and ive avoided being arrested even after having them called on me and they were white LOL but i live in an area where whites and blacks are used to each other. Its not like that in other places. And when it comes to a job like policing, it only takes a few to ruin the reputation of the profession

People need to get more involved in local politics. Everyone wants to care about who will be the next president, but it matters much more on voting for people locally who will allocate funds into the right people and organizations
