His verse on Radioactive was worse. Maybe another rapper could've found a flow that worked but imo that song wasn't made to have a rap verse on it

Nah radioactive is the craziest he has EVER gone on a verse. Not even deep water or DNA come close to the energy he displays here. The way he starts screaming at the end has never been replicated

kendrick flow is actually crazy on this, makes me wish we got to hear him on more dance and electronic music. he left earth on “yeah right”

and i’m not mad at him for having his era of doing pop features for a bag lol i know with 2023 eyes you may not get it but in 2013 it was very normal and almost a rite of passage. shows versatility and i think within the label structure it shows you’re willing to play ball to an extent. they were both interscope artists.

also in those days it felt like at least doing some pop/r&b features if not making your own will allow you even more freedom for your album because you’re already on the charts no matter what. kendrick doing songs with maroon 5, taylor swift, etc isn’t really a knock against him when he’s making GKMC and TPAB.

“find your love”, “take care”, “one dance” etc

those were obvious pop and pop rap songs, every artist that was tryna be a superstar had to take those shots either on their own albums or on somebody else’s lol we gotta stop acting like it was a terrible thing to do

also on top of that, j cole did pop songs with rita ora, beyonce, rihanna and he was on the drank in my cup remix lmao

let’s not forget when drake did “what’s my name” with rihanna and he had a whole era of running the radio with features on cheesy pop rap songs… it’s okay
